Along with many things already mentioned, the backwards compatibility of using any lens (or most) Pentax has made would be something to point out to a new user. If you do not need auto focus all the time, you can get some great glass for a fraction of the cost of current generation lenses. A little more than half of my lens collection is older "A" lenses. Some I bought recently, and some go back to my first camera (K1000) and the SMC 50mm 2.0 it came with. Still have the camera too!

So far, lens has not flared on me. But, I have not done a whole lot of shooting outdoors in different situations. I agree on the optical viewfinder. Not that great, but will work for me when needed. I use my own wrist strap. Camera came with a neck strap. I am going to have to make a cheat sheet to carry until I get to know the camera better. I have the manual downloaded on my iPad which I usually have with me or close by.
I agree with you, G-16 is well built and I like the feel in my hands. Control placement is nice. More like a DSLR than a P&S where you have to go to menus to make a lot of the changes. It is a little bigger than most P&S cameras and not really a pocket camera, but that is fine with me. Will easily fit in a coat pocket.
I really do wish Pentax/Ricoh would look at making at least a few P&S size cameras similar to the G-16. If they did and where as good as their DSLR's, I would be 100% Pentax.

Thanks! There have times when carrying my Pentax and a couple lenses was not practical or I didn't have room. Missed some opportunities. The Canon fit what I was looking for in a P&S size camera as well as my budget. I wish Pentax/Ricoh had some options other than the GR.

Only camera I own that is not a Pentax. Wanted a P&S for times when it is not convenient to carry a DSLR. Bought the Canon G-16. So far, I like it. Still learning how to get best results. Let me know what you think.
Took these pictures while walking around the University of Missouri campus. My daughter will be attending starting this Fall.

My dogs playing with a tennis ball. Their favorite thing to do.

#10 does it for me...fits the theme. #3 a close second because of the season and the "fox" that's a "wolf" that's really a "Siberian Husky!"

5! I have tried to get a picture like that and it is not easy...at least for me. 4 & 9 very close behind.

That is interesting. Thought this was an issue with just my lens. Did you ever send it in or get the problem resolved?

Have a Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 HSM lens that needs to be cleaned. Would also like to have it checked out and make sure everything is to the original factory specs. Reason for cleaning is there is some kind of film/smudge on the inside of the outer glass you can see in certain light conditions. Thinking it may be the cause of softness on the right side of pictures.
My research has found Sigma Service, C.R.I.S. (Arizona), and Eric's (pentaxs.com). Any recommendations on who is the best or other service centers not mentioned?
