Parrots are far from stupid. They are very intelligent, can problem solve and those that talk can frequently use the words they have learned appropriately.
No Galahs here but do have other parrots, two of them cockatoos--Little Corella/Bare-eyed and Goffin's.
Rob, excellent photos. ---------- Post added 12-24-14 at 08:39 PM ----------
I've seen my Goffin's preening her feathers with a feather that she moulted. Looked as if she was combing them. I gave her a scoop one day and she was using it to scoop out food from her food dish and then holding the scoop with her foot and eating out of that.

I was almost ready to purchase the K-3 but decided to go with the GX7. I know that they are very different cameras but with the current pricing on the GX7 I couldn't resist.

That's why I thought the 10-17 was a better choice for me....versatility/flexibility. ---------- Post added 12-10-14 at 09:02 AM ----------
Thanks for posting the photos. I think the lens will be interesting to use.

The 10-17 is still on backorder and just want to make sure about my purchase so..
I would be using this with my K-7 and also w/ my K-01 so do the 10-17 and K-01 work well together?
I do have problems with some lenses and the K-01 focusing so just checking.

Now the G6 has dropped in price. 429.99 w/ 14-42 ii lens (which I don't need) at Panasonic Direct.
Are all of the prices dropping for the pre-Christmas present purchasing or is Panasonic going to come out with an upgrade, maybe a G7 with several of the GX7 features?? With prices this good on both cameras it makes it hard to choose. Nice photo, btw. ---------- Post added 12-08-14 at 08:52 PM ----------
I've been very satisfied, too, with the photos from my G3 but then I also like my K cameras. I have more lenses for the Pentax system than my Panasonic, although I know I can use the Pentax ones on the m 4/3rds w/ an adapter. Like your black and white photos.

Just ordered a Pentax 10-17 fisheye but see that I can bundle that with a K-3 for a $100 savings on the lens. On the other hand the GX7 body only is now priced at $497 at Adorama and on Amazon. Cancel the fisheye only and order it w/ a K-3 or cancel the fisheye and order the GX7. Too many temptations. :)

Hmmmm....I can get the K-3 for the going price of $796 and then add the fisheye for $298. It's currently on backorder so I guess I could call Adorama, cancel my lens only order and order the bundle instead. Not sure what I want to do now. :)

Thanks all. I decided not to procrastinate like I usually do and put in the order. It's on backorder but that's fine. I'm looking forward to getting this. Wanted a new camera but will wait on that.

Decided I want to try my hand at using a fisheye lens and just wanted to know what you would recommend. I'm considering the DA 10-17 but have read positive reviews about the Samyang 8mm which is cheaper although not as flexible. Right now a new 10-17 is selling for $389 and I thought that was a good price.

I have both cameras. The K-01 does not have a viewfinder, the K-7 does. K-7...less ISO range options ranging from 100 to 6400 (extended sensitivity), K-01 100-25,600. K-7 much noisier than K-01 at higher ISOs. K-7 faster autofocus, at least based on my experience. The K-01 is more unique looking especially if you can get it in a color other than black.

I would be interested in giving remote control of the camera via the flu card a try but not at the expense of speed. At least the price has come down on it. Does it have a remote viewfinder application so that I can step away from the camera and look through the viewfinder via my tablet? Do any of the eye fi cards or cameras with built in wifi have that potential. It would be great to just leave the camera on a tripod, walk away from my birds and then view them and take photos remotely.

I know that these are totally different cameras and that the FZ70 and 200 are nowhere near the quality of the K3 or the GX7. With the prices of the two FZs I thought of just getting one for fun (probably should have specified that in my earlier post) or getting one for a friend. These cameras, especially the FZ200 do receive kudos from birders. The write speed on both of these is extremely slow, though, and, when it comes down to it, that would drive me crazy. Not going to pay $800+ for an FZ1000 when I can get a K-3 for the same price or a GX7 for a few hundred less. I tried the Olympus m 4/3rds and the GX7 and, for me, the GX7 handled better. As for image quality I have looked at photos taken with the GX7 and have also looked at sets of photos comparing it to other cameras and the image quality is excellent. When it comes to m 4/3rds this would be my choice. I really don't care that it doesn't have an external microphone or headphone jack. Those are not priorities for me. As for investing in lenses I already have Pentax lenses & m 4/3rds lenses. I am just working on upgrading my camera bodies and then as an afterthought considered getting a cheap FZ but, as I indicated, just for fun, not as a replacement for my other cameras/lenses and not in place of a K-3 or GX7.
BTW, what does my extra credit get me?

The K-5iis is an excellent camera and great deal on it right now. If I didn't want some of the features of the K-3 I would purchase the K-5iis over the K-50. The K-5iis is $496 at Adorama and comes with a free battery grip.

I've had the K-3 as well as the Panasonic GX7 in carts at both Adorama and B & H and then keep deleting. Maybe it's been for the best. Had to replace the torsion spring on my garage door as well as the capacitor in the opener yesterday and there went part of my camera money. However the deals on both cameras are still very tempting. I also started looking at the ultrazoom Panasonic bridge cameras such as the FZ200 or the FZ70 just for the reach, the ease and the excellent pricing (although the price of the 200 back up at B & H and Adorama although still low at Amazon). I had an FZ20 which took excellent photos, IMHO. Probably my best fixed lens digital camera. I also have $300 in Sony gift cards and have been browsing through the Sony website but I would have to invest in a new system and don't think I want to go in that direction.
