I'm also a FastStone user and have always thought how convenient it would be to manage RAW + JPG files in conjunction
Can you explain how this "pairing option" is implemented? I haven't found anything within the program settings

Light entering through the viewfinder when shooting with the timer (no face to block the light getting in) can affect auto exposure. Use the finder cap that came with the camera or some other form of cap to block light getting in.

I have the FA 100 2.8 macro who has the same clamp nob. On this lens the nob don't lock the focus completely, it just add friction to the focusing ring so it is less prone to change focus inadvertently. Also gives a better, more precise feel when manual focusing. Don't know if it behaves in the same way with the 50mm.
It should not be used in AF mode because of the added resistance to the AF motor.

I have used Flat Black TESTORS enamel paint markers to touch-up silver shine scratches inside metal lens hoods, extension tubes and other parts that require flat black patches. The markers are easy and precise to use. They offer various colors and I think there is a metallic silver.

You can use the built-in flash on the K-3 to control the 540 wirelessly with full P-TTL automation. You cannot do the same with the K-1 since the camera doesn't have a built-in flash.
With the K-1 you can use a second Pentax flash with wireless control capability (360 and 540, both I and II versions) to control your 540 off camera.
The Pentax wireless flash control uses an optical path so the camera and the remote flash need to be in sight of each other. Radio triggered flash systems don't need camera an remote flash to be in direct sight.
P.D.: Sorry for the redundancy, didn't saw Peter's answer

AFAIK the reason for coating a lens is to increase light transmission through the glass as much as posible, avoiding light reflection on the lens surfaces.
So the ideal situation would be 100% light transmission or 0% reflection, what a "perfect coated" filter would do. And that is exactly what you have in front of the lens without any filter.
In other words, the filter with the best posible coating can only be as good as having no filter (100% transmission, 0% reflection).
Once the light gets in to the first element and pass through the rest of the lens, the lens own coating is what define how much light passes and how much is lost by reflection.
In conclusion, there is nothing a HD coated filter could do to increase light transmission through the lens. Even more, it surely decrease light transmission, at least by a tiny bit.

This seems to be the case, and it's in coherence with the first Pentax lens line without an aperture ring, the FA J lenses.

Silly question but one that has bothered me for years.
I have a Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC which I bought new in 2009. The lens is labeled "EX DC" without any "J" letter on the body or in the original box.
But I have seen in many places what seems to be the same lens but labeled "EX DC J". Even in PF database the only Sigma 10-20 4-5.6 shown is labeled as "EX DC J"
Are there two different versions of the lens? What the "J" means?

When DPR reviewed the Sony A1 on April they put in the "don't like" list the following:
"Users must manually select between human, animal or birds for Eye AF"
and I commented:
"The time will come when they don't like that the camera doesn't shot automatically when there is a good photo opportunity in front of it."
I have had eight Pentax cameras, from an ME Super in 1980 to a K3 II, my newest one. Not that I not welcomed every improvement on each new model but I always remember with special joy the days with my MX. I learned photography the most with that camera, and enjoyed a lot using it. I think it had much to do with the fact that I had to be involved in every step of the process, and since I always have done photography as a hobby, much of the fun came from the process itself.
It's commendable what todays technologies can do but, at least for the ones who enjoy the craft, how much are we losing from all this automation?

From my own experience, probably cement/balsam degradation between two joined elements. If this is the case, the problem is not on exposed to air surfaces but in between cemented elements.

I can do that on my K5 and K3II but only going through a tedious process, and often having to repeat the process after some time.
With the Nikon D500 (and I think with the D5 too) the camera can do it automatically using CD AF as a correct parameter for the adjustment. With those cameras you get only a global correction but I think it shouldn't be difficult to save a correction value for each lens used.

Auto AF Fine Adjustment a la Nikon D500 but, for each lens, not globally.
If they decide to stay DSLR, at least get rid of front and back focus. In my case the most frequent cause of blurry pictures.

I agree. It makes sense with the 16-45 and other constant aperture zooms. What I find weird is that it also happens with my FA 28-105 which is a variable aperture zoom.
Maybe my 28-105 has being defective since the beginning and I wrongly asume the "not completely open iris at 28" was by design?

Exactly the same thing happens with my SMC-Pentax FA 28-105mm F4-5.6 since I bought it new in the 90s, the diaphragm never opens completely at 28 but do it as you zoom in.
I was worried back then but I never saw any effect on exposure so I forgot about it. Seems to be this way by design.

I don't have an LX but I believe all the viewfinder options for the camera slide from back to front of the camera through groves on each side.
Maybe yours hasn't got all the way to the front, just enough to make difficult to see the aperture number?
Try releasing the prism with the little lever provided for it. Slide a little to the back, and then all the way to the front, making sure it goes all the way in. See if this helps.

If my memory don't fail, I remember my 1980 ME Super had a backup mechanical shutter of 1/125 that works without batteries. My first Pentax. Last time I had it in my hands was more than 30 years ago.
