I've been putting my 3 yellowed Takumar 50/1.4s under a "black light" 20w (75w equivalent) UV CFL lamp mounted in a small desk "gooseneck" lamp. I've removed any front screw-on UV filter that I might have installed and opened the aperture to its widest setting. Then I've tucked the lens under the UV bulb on a shiny piece of aluminum foil (to reflect the light back up thru the lens) front lens facing down and just clearing the bulb, all for for maximum effect.
Usually, 36-48 hours in this arrangement completely clears the yellowing. No muss, no fuss. Found the bulbs on E-Bay for $6 or so.

BINGO!
I've always found it interesting that there are some who will leap on the very latest "bandwagon" when it comes along, perceiving (often erroneously) that the "latest and greatest" is ALWAYS "better".
Unfortunately, to feed the "need" the marketers have now created, the result is all too often what I've come to call "feature creep". That's when the new stuff sports more and more "features" that look absolutely fantastic in the manufacturers slick advertising, but that only a handful of us (if that!) will ever actually use in practice. To the contrary, FAR too many of these new "features" just get in the way, making what was once a fairly straightforward art and science of photography into a highly complex (spelled "confusing") endeavor.
Also, when it comes to modern electronics (as what most DSLRs contain these days)...in order for the manufacturers to fulfill the lofty expectations created by their marketers, these manufacturers are increasingly forced to turn the first thousand or so recipients of their "latest and greatest" brainchildren into unwitting "Beta testers" (remember the "mirror flop" issue with the K3?) until they can (finally!) work out all the problems associated with their ever-more complex offerings.
So, to all of this marketing hype, I say "NO THANKS"! What I currently have (and use) works quite well and it MORE than meets my (and I suspect the vast majority of most other people's) photo needs.
Indeed, as Leonardo Da Vinci once said (and as I routinely quote in my signature line below) "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication".

Agreed.
However, look around on E-Bay....they can often be had for a fraction of the cost of new.
But, regardless of what you end up paying, they are worth every penny.
Best!

These issues are precisely why I always WAIT for a year or two after a new model of anything mechanical (or electronic) comes on the market before I purchase one.
Unfortunately (and all too often in the past) I've ended up being horribly frustrated with "new" computer software that's still full of bugs, "new" automobile platform-changed models with seemingly endless "safety" recalls, and "new" models of amateur radio equipment that have often spent more time back on the manufacturer's warranty repair bench (usually shipped back at my expense!) than on the air in my radio "shack"
After about the third time this happened to me (with a brand new model of a piece of amateur radio equipment that periodically locked up in transmit mode for no apparent reason) I vowed to never again play "uncompensated beta tester" for some company's newest offering.
So now (and while its often very hard to resist the temptation) I've trained myself to NOT add my name to waiting lists for brand new equipment before it even hits the market. I also refrain from purchasing such items from the first (or second, or even the third) wave of deliveries of the "latest and greatest" model to hit store shelves.
Rather, I've now learned to simply make do with what may be "old" by today's technology standards (including my older Pentax cameras) but yet still satisfies the vast majority of my curent needs....at least until the manufacturers finally work the bugs out of their very latest "new and improved" brainchild.
I also find I sleep MUCH better at night as a result.

I've been fighting something similar all this Winter and now into Spring. Sinuses hurting, teeth hurting, ear ache, etc.
At first, (after trying to fight it with over-the-counter drugs (antihistamine, ibuprofen, etc.)), I finally consulted the family physician who diagnosed a bacterial sinus infection and proscribed a strong dose of antibiotics.
However, after going through TWO rounds of two different antibiotics with no relief, I become convinced that what I was probably fighting was not bacterial, but, rather, a horribly persistent viral infection that was also probably mutating into one or more different strain(s) once I started feeling a bit better, only to have the symptoms return.
Over the years, I've had a great deal of luck by taking 50-100 mg doses of Zinc Gluconate at the first sign of such symptoms. Unfortunately, I let this particular bout of the "crud" get well established before I was able to catch it and get on the Zinc. I believe Zinc is the active ingredient in such things as "Cold-Eze" and "Cold FX", but can also be found in 50 mg tablets in most drug stores and big box stores like Wal Mart and K-Mart. One of my doctor (MD-type) friends once told me that this stuff interferes with the virus' ability to replicate in your body, thus helping your immune system to eventually overwhelm the virus and get rid of it. Do a search on "zinc" and "common cold" for a wealth of online info that essentially corroborates these findings.
Now, as with most other things in life, "your mileage may vary" and you shouldn't start a new medication routine without consulting your own physician. That's because the Zinc could interfere with other medications you may be taking and/or aggravate other medical conditions you may have. Or, to put it another way, Zinc, like most other metals is toxic if ingested by humans to excess.
But, you and your physician should be able to develop an effective dosage regimen that will help prevent the viral sinus "crud"...or at least, lessen its effects. The only side effect I sometimes have from taking Zinc tablets is a bit of passing nausea if I take it on an empty stomach...which I mitigate by always taking the pills with food.
In my own case, once I was back on the Zinc (and within a day or two) the symptoms started to mitigate and (fingers crossed) I think I may have finally overcome this latest bout of the "crud".
But, a zinc tablet is back into my daily pill taking routine as a preventative measure.

Probably not in the near term.....if ever.
I've just invested heavily in K-10 and K-20 bodies and lenses....most picked up used. And I steadfastly refuse to be yet another 'beta tester' for Pentax...or anyone else.
That is, over the years, I've learned that having the "latest and greatest" is not always best, particularly until the makers work out all the bugs in the new design. I'm also a ham radio operator and have learned (the hard way) to WAIT a year or two (or three) to purchase the "new and improved" stuff until its been in the field awhile for others to find all the bugs....and spend THEIR hard-earned cash to send things back for repair and/or upgrade.
Besides, it's not all the "bells and whistles" in the camera, but what's in the eye of the photographer that makes the best pictures.
