I just got a used 20-40.
The reviews re:sharpness are correct, the edges, and near edges are not as sharp as the center. It's not for the pixel peeper.
Focus speed is so-so and quiet.
The reviews re: rendering and colors are also absolutely correct, they're absolutely GORGEOUS! They're just beautiful! They're quite different from the limited primes, colors are a wee bit more vibrant, brighter.
I wish that I had gotten this sooner, and I don't have any plans of letting go of my prime Limiteds either.

Photography is not a source of income for me. I’m a financial engineer, I craft financial arrangements: bonds, pseudo-capital arrangements— a non-repetitive, mentally-taxing, but definitely boring job, even if I like it.
I need to do something beyond premiums and discount rates after work, and photography (or probably more like collecting lenses) becomes a hobby for me, it keeps my mind off from the 8 to 6 routine, and refreshes me. Even when I’m just staring at these beautiful pieces of glasses, or just mounting and shooting mostly uninteresting objects/subjects, funny, but they give me some peace, never mind if I have very limited time when I can actually use them extensively. But the fact that simply owning them can give ME some peace and happiness is a sound reason enough, IMO, to justify my “LBA”.
PS: [I also play, err, collect chess books and chess boards]
PS #2: I’m not really fond of superzooms. :P

These Limiteds are small and if you’ll judge them based on the prevailing “internet” standards, they’re too “flawed” to be of any use. But in my humble opinion, yes, they’re not perfect, but one thing they do have that comes with their flaws: character.

And not just in camera or laptop. I bought their top of the line BT noise cancelling headset for $400 last Christmas. Yup, it’s not that expensive, but it’s not cheap either. MDR1000X. While I personally feel that their noise cancelling technology tops Bose’s famed noise cancelling, after three months I’m beginning to regret the decision, as I’m now experiencing first hand how fragile Sony’s plastics are. And the support? They’re actually blaming their customers, as if we want to be hassled arguing or claiming warranty with them. As for me, hopefully I’m done with anything Sony by this time. I’ve learned my lessons now. This is not the first time, the first one is with a mobile phone. With a little help from 3M adhesive tape, this headset will be a constant reminder never to buy anything Sony again. The technology and superiority in features are there. Great. The quality? not so much. The support? non-existent.

I think I'm going to buy another one. Somehow, now I begin to understand why Pentax fixed the "sharp" focus to around 4 to 6 feet. Still, 07-infinity is still too good to pass up especially at current prices.

I’m using a “de-glassed” 49 mm UV filter for the 08 as a cheap “hood”. I tried adding another ring, but it already exhibits vignetting at the corners on the second. Two $30 lens ain’t that bad ;)

Hi, can you confirm what’s the focus range of your 07 now? 5 ft(?) to infinity?
Thanks,

The GR’s raison d’eitre are in no particular order,
1. That amazingly sharp sweet lens,
2. Infinitely Customizable controls
3. Wonderful JPEG engine
4. Deceptively perfect ergonomics
All in a pocketable size.
It’s almost hard to improve on such a product, it’s too easy to love. (Even specks of dust do. )

The 55 is much easier to work with, much more consistent esp. with bokeh. The 43 is tricky.
But my most favorite shots (maybe technically not perfect) have been taken by the 43. Coincidence?
Offtopic: My DA55’s SDM failed, but I’m giving it a second chance (it’s that good) so I’m having it repaired. The 43’s screw driven AF on the other hand, might just outlive me.

The SDM of DA*55 failed me past the warranty before the second anniversary. I had it sent to Japan last Feb 22 for SDM motor replacement. I’m still waiting for it to come back. It’s too good not to be repaired.
Hopefully, it will last longer.

I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but is there a difference between the K3II and the K3 hardware such that it is impossible for the K3 to have pixel shift via a firmware? If there's none, then this is just a matter of product differentiation, no?

Yup, faster AF will be very much welcome. At the cost of a few millimeters, I'd also want a tilting LCD and a small 6mm Prime would be most welcome.

Now, I've got to look for Galliano. I'm a sucker for vanilla, and I always enjoy "chasing" vanilla flavour in my taste buds.
Thanks!

I used a thin parchment paper to map out our oven temperature, aside from putting six (yes, six!) thermometer in there just to find the hot spots.
Drinking coffee is such a therapeutic "activity". I can easily lose two hours, making myself a brew.
My experiment lately is doing a perfect cocktail of coffee and Stolichnaya. I'm more or less, happy I've figured the correct mix with Bailey's for my taste.

The K3 is a camera that has to be held in order to appreciate its near perfect ergonomics, which may be essential to a more relaxed shooting. It is still small, yet solid, has the nice heft, and the tactility of the keys is perfect. Even when tied up, say, to a heavy lens, like the 60-250, the K3 is a very comfortable camera.
I can compare this against my K30 and the diminutive Kx, and I daresay that the K3 is in a different league.

I've a funny feeling that this thread will go down this route, in this order:
1) A funny repartees ridiculing the comparison
2) A mention of Sony
3) Thread will be moved to "non-Pentax Section" because of the word "Sony"
4) Even funnier exchanges
5) Thread will be moved to Lounge Area because it has become grossly non-photo related
6) Another volley of attacks vs. Pentax' video
7) Mods swoop down for a stern warning
8) Participants ignore
9) Mods lock the thread
Of course, #9 can come in anytime. :D

I used to buy anything that's been offered to me, and my collection ballooned to almost 40 lenses at one point, many have overlapping focal lengths. I know that 40 is still quite a "manageable" number compared to what most of you have, (but try telling that to wife). My goal then was to try anything I can lay my hands on. But picking a lens/lenses to bring has become a chore, so I have decided to trim down my stash into almost half. I kept a few of the best manual primes (K50/1.2, K55/1.8, K28/3.5, M28/2 among others) and disposed the rest, although I still regret selling the specific A50/1.7 I've had.
I still have a lot of overlaps, but I've settled on lenses with unique renditions. I'm now preparing for the FF, and likely see myself getting the 15-30 with the K1 (or K1 Mk II). I am still in the lookout for a K28/2, and an FA*85 but I'm prepared to accept that with the advent of K1, the FA*85 and K28/2's prices will further rise to impractical levels.
