I was thinking about film but am a bit "filmed" out in the 35mm area. Am in an instant mood at the moment
What's your main area of photography with this system ?

A good idea but I can't find any second hand in the UK, or in eBay in Europe and the new price has just dropped severely
Perhaps people that are happy with this and don't sell it at the moment ?

I am fascinated by medium format, and am attracted to the detail, acuity and pop (undefinable ) of MF photos I have seen.
Its also fascinating to me to explore old glass, and many compatible lens adaptors are available for the 645D, including Hassleblad V, 645, 67, etc. which are really quite reasonable second hand.
I was mainly comparing the 645D to the Leica S but am open to other suggestions, being a newbie to this format.
I am strictly amateur and this is for fun. My main subjects will be landscape, buildings and portrait.
At current prices I can get the 645D + 55mm cheaper then the all of the above bodies and a native lens.
The Leica S is starting to become affordable second hand and I have been offered a particularly good price for one, although its a stretch. the main advantage of the S is it has the shortest registry distance and there is compatible with the largest collection of MF lenses from other brands.
I have looked at Hassleblad and Phase 1 but thats all out of my price range.
The FF sensors are not that exciting although there are some interesting cameras at the moment.
My budget is around £3.5k for the body and one lens (hopefully a native one)
What do you guys think ? fun idea ? wrong time to buy ? get a 5Ds instead ?

thanks all
I agree now is a great time to buy
another question. what is the largest aperture lens one can get for the 645D mount, which is good quality ?
i.e. trying to reach or improve on f1.4, or f1, for 35mm equivalent ?

many thanks for the great reply
I guess one advantage of the maturity of the 645D platform are the discounts available now
I am interested in medium format due to the artistic side (e.g. Bokeh) and detail
I have used the D800E and it is excellent.
However the Teledyne sensors in both the S2 and 645D are not really great for ISO performance. These are strictly good light cameras!

I am thinking of buying a 645D or Leica S2 (used/ex-demo)
The Leica is around 96% more expensive. The MTA curves of the Leica lenses looks amazing, although I understand these are not the only important thing.
I will be doing mainly people pictures, landscape and architecture. I am strictly amateur.
So some question to Pentax folk, particularly as I am leaning towards the Pentax due to the available of low price used A and N lenses (sorry if i using the terminology incorrectly) as well as the new FA/DA lenses being half the price of Leica.
1. I am finding it difficult to obtain detailed reviews of the 645 D lenses, is there a good site for this ?
2. What is the difference between FA and DA lenses, or are they the same ? (I am confused with all the lens markings)
3. Can the latest hassleblad lenses be used on the 645D with a convertor ?
4. I was thinking of starting with the Pentax SMC FA 645 150mm F2.8 (IF) Lens and Pentax SMC D-FA 645 55mm F2.8 AL (IF) SDM AW Lens . Are these well rated ?
5. What is the most frequented medium format forum ?
Again, sorry for the newbie nature of these questions
Many thanks in advance
