Thanks a lot for your kind suggestions guys. The menu was stuck on manual ISO 6400 somehow :/. I made it auto and now I'm getting stunning pictures as usual. After reading the posts here I ended up learning a bit more about my camera which is good. Thanks again. :)

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I will read them and try to understand them as much as I can and use those tips when taking the pics next time. But I still think there is more to it. Here's why. I used Auto mode for both Parc J-D and today. I didn't pay much attention because I didn't think the scene need anything more.
Here's what I see when I compared them side by side: A slimy layer on top of the pictures (on the right, in the attached picture). Is this ISO related? I guess that's what you guess have been saying so far. But I am annoyed that the auto mode selected that ISO.
As far as the damaged HD coating, I don't think it is the reason because I later clicked some photos with another non HD lens and I got the same artifacts.

Hi guys.
Last time I whined about bad pics, it was a hair on my sensor. I hope it is something as simple this time too.
I went out on a hike today and had some fantastic photo opportunities. I took some photos (K30 with HD DA 55-300mm ED WR) and when I came home and looked at them, they looked like they were taken using a flip phone. Seriously, they turned out to be that bad. Last time I used the camera was in June. Does the blurriness have something to do with this?
You can see the June pics (F1, Parc J-D). I have also attached the blurry ones here. I have also attached a picture I took on my iPhone. Unfortunately, the sharper one is from the iPhone. :(

Yes, that is how I removed the particle in the end. I now feel bad for touching the back of the mirror. I didn't do anything to the surface.

It was indeed a hair (no surprises here). I removed it. I used a soft microfiber cleaning cloth.
But, I didn't see it to its end. What I mean by this is, is that when I remove dust/hair from something I would like to hold it and see. For example when you have something in your eye. After you remove it, you want to closely inspect it. I was not able to do that in this case, unfortunately. Hopefully it is gone; I didn't see the speck in new pics that I clicked.
Thank you all for your quick and to-the-point helpful responses. Needless to say, without your advice, I would have panicked.

Nevermind the previous post. I was afraid to look eye-to-eye with sensor :P. So I tried to find the problem outside. I held the mirror up and clicked a few blank pics and saw a particle inside. Now I must remove it. Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions. I removed the lens and looked inside just like that. Saw some scratch-like thingy (not sure what it is) on the mirror. Can I use a Zeiss lens cleaning cloth on the mirror? But the blemish doesn't look as the type that will come off by wiping. Haven't ventured into sensor cleaning yet since I got an error that battery isn't full enough for that procedure.

Hi,
I have Pentax K-30 which I bought in Nov 2012 and it came with 18-55mm. I noticed that there is a weird line that is appearing now on photos. It is very annoying. To know what I am talking about, take a look at the attached pics. This appears with different lenses, so it is a problem with the cam. The line is not noticeable when the background is dark. I cannot believe I did not notice this in September of last year when these pics were taken. After I took some pics yesterday, I noticed them. Note that, the photo(not posted here) taken just before the first pic with the line was only a minute before it was taken. So possibility of something entering the cam or something like that.
I have bought a 3 year extended warranty with the cam, but I don't if this is a major problem or something that I can do and fix myself.
Thank you

Yeah. We know there will be limitations. Thank you for pointing out, though. On a side note, do you know what is the max. size memory card that I can use with K-30? Since there is no internal storage, I have to buy a SD, SDHC or SDXC card.

Hi,
I recently ordered a Pentax K-30 and grabbed one of the thanksgiving deals out there. It feels cozy in this cold at the thought of buying a Pentax for a low price. Waiting eagerly for it to arrive.
My Dad is one of the biggest fans of Pentax. He had a ME F SLR. He hopes to use the lenses he has with this new camera. (Given how Pentax boasts it backward compatibility.)
Hope I make best use of the camera with your guidance. :-)

Samy's is an authorized promaster retailer right? I saw this mail-in rebate at another place (ephotocraft) also. But, they didn't have the instant rebate as Samy's.
