sorry for the dealyed reply. My budget is a little up in the air! I'm waiting to hear back from complaint that if successful would mean that I'd have enough to go for a D810 or something. If not, I'd be looking significantly less!
What do you think I can expect to get selling my kit on? I've not a clue to be honest! ---------- Post added 12-21-14 at 11:03 PM ----------
Hi Norm,
thanks for all the info. I'm at about 16,700 shots on my K20, but I would agree that I don't really have a single style of photography yet!!
Looking at your questions, I don't have any specific lenses, and that's kind of where I'm not too sure where to go: I'd like to invest in something with a large aperture, but not sure if I want to stay with Pentax, or jump ship! I often shoot in dim light, and often go to the full wide angle of my 18-55 for landscapes. However, I often go full zoom with the longer lens to go for wildlife shots when I get the opportunity too!
I do really like a narrow DOF for beautiful blurred out-of-focus areas, for the right shot. I don't think I'm ready fr a 645, and I'm not too fussed about absolute resolution or uber portability - I'm just not that experienced (good) yet! ---------- Post added 12-21-14 at 11:10 PM ----------
So I had missed that there is a Pentax FF coming out..... that really does put the cat among the pigeons!

Hey All,
I'm kind of at a cross-roads in my DSLR photography life: do I stick with Pentax, or jump ship to someone else..?!!
I have a K-20D which is my first DLSR, I've had it for about 4 1/2 years, and previously used a Pentax ME Super and various Canon point and shoots (which I still use). I've got a few lenses; the kit 18-55 II, Tamron 28-105, and Tamron 70-300. the 28-105 was from my film SLR, and the 70-300 I bought second hand cheaply slightly damaged and repaired it myself. I'm into a bit of landscape and wildlife photography, and am thinking that I need to get a better wide angle, but am wondering whether to stick with Pentax or jump ship to another brand.
The main reason to jump would be to go for a full frame sensor and wider lens choice with more frequent deals as I get the impression Pentax gear doesn't often come up on sale as much as Canon or Nikon, and their also their second hand market is probably bigger too. A couple of other things I'd like too, such as better higher frame rate when busrt shooting, better connectivity to connect to a mobile / tablet, maybe wi-fi, etc, but was wondering what people think?!
Grateful for any thoughts!

I'm in Texas, which is great a very different to the UK, but loving it here!
Yeah, the 55-300 is a great deal - unfortunately the seller is on holiday at the moment so I've got to wait a week until he returns! The 28-105 is a good lens - it just lacks that extra zoom which I seem to feel like I'm missing in a lot of my photos. The 18-135 looks fantastic, but is probably a bit out of my price range at the moment!
He certainly does seem to be a mini-celeb - that's a nice little article!

Hi All,
I have just joined to post a comment for Heile - loving his work; hopefully it's inspired me to do something to improve my meagre photography skills!!
Camera wise, I have had a K20D for about 3 years, with the stock 18-55 and a Tamron 28-105 film lens that I used with an old Pentax ME, which was my first SLR. I'm looking to upgrade to something with a longer zoom, possibly a Pentax 55-300 DA L that I've seen on Craig's list, and hopefully something with a wider angle for some landscape stuff too, although I can't afford them both at the same time!
Although I'm English, I'm currently living and working in the USA for a few years, which is a nice change, and will hopefully allow me to take a load of completely different once-in-a-lifetime photos!

Heie,
I had to join the forums just to say what a joy it is to read your posts and look at your fantastic pictures! I have not been to Afghanistan (although a lot of friends and my brother have), but I really think you've managed to capture a side of the country and people that is often missed - I hope your entries to the NG competitions do well.
Stay safe and hope you had as-good-a thanksgiving as possible.
