Night The Pillars of Creation

I'm going through some old data of when I first started in Astrophotography. I've learned better processing techniques over the years, so I am able to make MUCH better images than I did years ago.

Here's one I shot a few years ago that I just reprocessed tonight. It is only 4 hours of total imaging, in my light polluted Loveland backyard, but I am very happy with what I got out of just a few images (roughly 25, 500 second images).

This is M16, the Eagle Nebula, or better known from the famous Hubble image titled "Pillars of Creation". It is a vast stellar nursery with pillars of dust and gas that is coalescing into newborn stars.

Located some 7000 light years from Earth, the pillars themselves stand 4-5 light years high. They are slowly being eroded by the very stars that they have created.

Here is a larger 2500px wide image if you want to see it larger: https://scontent-den4-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/302080084_102223058617747...lg&oe=63101457

I long for the day we become a republic. I can see their "relevance" for the British........but not for us.

And yet people seem to like my images. How is that possible? How can a neanderthal like myself using a 4.5 year old camera out perform so many of the enlightened such as yourself who have tried everything? It's one of the mysteries of the universe. :D

When you figure it out we'll talk.
Bottom line, if what you have let's you do what you want, you don't need anything else, even if others insist you need something different. And different doesn't always produce better. Maybe I get as many images as I do because I don't waste time, learning to use every camera system out there. I spend my time using what I have, not investigating what I don't have.

I could take images I like (and others like) with a view camera. I don't need any electronics to produce images. The supposed advantages of the electronification of photography has turned into a hype war of little practical value for those of us who value the images more than the technology they are taken with.

I like electronics supporting my photography, doing things like exposure, AF. The notion that what I have is holding me back because it's not MILC is in my mind ridiculous. People inventing doo dahs that in no way improve my photography is pretty much irrelevant.

It's a fact, some people are captivated by tassels and glitter.

Why not have both microprism and split screen? My Ricoh KR-10 did with the split screen at 45 degrees.

Made the same transition a number of years ago. I'm now well versed in RT and think it does an excellent job. Compared to subscribing to Adobe CC for the last three years using RT has saved me the cost of a new 55-300 PLM.

Also, getting rid of Adobe helped with the transition from Windows to Linux, which I absolutely love.

Without doubt she absolutely does interfere in politics and has the power to veto laws which would be injurious to her or her family and their wealth. Britain is a sham of a democracy while the monarchy exists..

Pentax should consider upgrading all DA Limited to WR lenses!

A little different but still a display issue. With the K1MII I find it annoying that in manual mode, Live View you get a stopped down view, which is really annoying, not to mention mostly impossible when trying to focus manually. The only workaround I've found is rotate the dial to Bulb, focus then rotate back to manual. Any thoughts on where I've missed this in the manual?

It can't have been more than 2 seconds between me seeing the thread being open and the first 50 being posted. Seriously???

My response might have been quicker except that a 2 word post was rejected. I give up. I presume that the people who managed entire sentences copied and pasted them from a prepared file.

Good luck to those who are in with a chance.
