Nice work nailing focus in the right place with the optimal f-stop to give us a natural sense of focus and fall-off. The composition, colors, tonality, and light are also lovely. I'm curious about why you chose ISO 1600 and a Shutter Speed of 1/160s instead of taking the shutter speed and ISO down a bit to bring noise down just a bit more. Camera shake?

Apart from ergonomics, what else do you think the Pentax does better? I have a Sony a7rIII, but the colors are always a challenge. I really miss the look of my 67 with the 124mm.

Are lens manufacturers achieving ultra-sharpness at the expense of tonality?
I find it almost impossible to get the same tonality out of my newer, digital lenses (on full frame) that I seem to get easily from my less sharp older glass, such as my Super-Multi-Moated Super Takimar 35mm f3.5 M42.
I shoot Sony with a mix of lenses, including a couple of Pentax 67s and M42 lenses. The newer, sharper, Sony and Sigma lenses seem to lack equivalent tonality (even the FE 85mm f1.8), and images often look much flatter. Is this also the case with the new K1 lenses?

I love the "look" (colors, contrast, texture, sharpness (not too much or too little), quality of background blur, and subject isolation) that I get with Portra 400 on my Pentax 67.
I was wondering, are any vintage Pentax 35mm lenses that will give me a similar look if adapted to full-frame digital? I've attached a snapshot taken with my 67 that has the qualities I really like.

Thanks msatlas. The focus is off. When in focus, the lens is quite sharp.

I am not having the same problems with barrel distortion and pincushioning thatthe subjective reviewer indicates. I wonder if this is because I am shooting with anAPC-C. There is some barrel distortion at 28mm and some pincushioning at 100mm. The atttached photos were taken at a distance of about 4 feet. |

Both of these lenses have been referred to as a “Stack of Primes.” Are there reasons to prefer one to the other? Would there be any reason to prefer either over a Rikenon 28-100mm f/4 constant lens?
I am looking for an inexpensive but relatively good quality all-around lens with manual focus for use on a Nex 5n.
If one is better than the other, how much more would you be willing to spend? For example, if the Pentax is better than the Ricoh, is it so much better that you would spend an extra $70 and sacrifice 7mm at the wide end?
If the Pentax and Canon are better than the Ricoh, which is better than the other?
One thing I would add is that I really like the parfocus of the Ricoh.
Thanks in advance.
