I was trying to AF an object in a dim light, the motor struggle on and the camera jammed, lost all controls and was not able to switch off.
It's ok now.

That's what I'll do. I mounted and dismounted several times and at long last I got AF.
But, the noisy AF jammed the camera and I had to take the battary out.

The lens mount is ok. I have done as all you suggested. The lens clicks nicely in its place and the white line is in the top. I
The camea is switched to AF, and yet no AF!
One thing puzzeled me. In the menu - AF/MF Settings, the first line: Autofocus Method is in grey, no access!
The mode dial settings are fine; TV mode is TV on the monitor etc.
I have made some video indoors tests with well composed frames and lighting and used a fluid head tripod - with execllent results, standing well
along side much much more expensive cameras from Canon and Nikon, with manual change focus done with great ease.

It seems that I can not get any AF. Not with AF/AE-L button, not with the front AF/MF switch, nor do I get green AF frame focus display in the monitor.

I am using Pentax DA 40mm f2.8 XS
I reset the lens and it works fine. But still no AF, just MF.

I have just got a new K01 with some issues which I don't understand.
I can not switch to Automatic focus. The monitor shows only MF changing to AF makes no change.
The Mode Dial is in Auto but the monitor shows AV.
The F stop is blank and I can not change it.
No half press of the shutter realeas button.
No green AF frame focus display in the monitor. I loooked up in the menu and the settings are fine.
I had a problem with the shutter release, did not work at all, but I fix it in the menu.
I can take pictures but I can not control what I am doing and it's a new camera!

I know the file can be heavy. I thought about few seconds one. It's the format which matters.
Any idea how Pentax lens SMC DA 18-135 F. 3.5 - 5.6 works with the K01?

Thanks for reassuring me. Would it possible to attach a very small size video file to your reply so that I can see that there's no need for transcoding in my editing application.
I saw various examples of videos, including the ones in Pentax web site and non of them had any problem with edges being cropped.

I am going back to the video file format question. From the Pentax specifications it is clear that it is MP4 format and not MOV.
For me a MOV file is a must. In the new Q10 camera's specifications its written MOV .

Thanks. Pentax does not mention the mov. file in the camera's specifications, they should. I assume that the K01 is 1920x1080p (progressive) and not i (interlace)
Another question: I could not find the K01 Raw mention in Apple's Raw compatibility with the Mac. Any idea.

I am also thinking of getting the K01 for video mainly. There were too many out of focus shots and the picture is over all too bright.

Since the days of the Pentax Spotmatic I haven't touch a Pentax. Sometime ago I saw the K01 and I thought that it really looks great, almost as piece of art. I am a professional editor and I am thinking to use the K01 for my videos. I saw some clips on Vimeo and was very impressed with the picture quality. For me this is the bottom line and not some gadgets or a long list of possibilities.
I am not intended to do "snap shots" type of filming but more of carefully planed shots.
I wonder though what is the video file format of the K01. Is it mov. ? I am using FCPX and FCP7. Is the K01 compatible with those applications?
I'll be happy to have responses to actually using the K01 for video work.
