I am getting a Pentax KP shortly and need help with a 50-300 zoom lens. B&H has two available one is the Pentax HD Pentax-DA-55/300 F/4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE lens and the other is the
Pentax HD Pentax- DA 55/300 F/4-5.8 WR lens. Between these two which would you choose and WHY. If you consider one over the other what would be your choice? I have had many cameras over the years and am looking to get the Pentax KP with the kit lens 18/135 and want to get to 300mm at tops so one of the above lens will get me there. all feed back will be
greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the feed back. What is the Max shutter speed in the manual mode? All my previous cameras it was 1/8000. I do not have to have that fast if its there ok. I am looking at the KP.

What are the PROS & CONS of these two cameras using the same lens? The KP costs more than the K70. I picked up several different over the past several years. I am interested in these two cameras in the future. I have a Canon 70D now I am playing with now. I read a lot about Pentax and have a couple or friends who have Pentax and really like them.
For those who have these cameras what do you feel are the pros and cons of them? For me I do mostly out door photography animals, Birds. Lakes and Rivers and forests and parks and zoos. I do not do much video at all so I do not need a camera for video I can play with it from time to time. Feed back greatly appreciated. Thanks Bill

I do not see where the KP has a remote shutter release cable or IR which I must have????? I can not find anywhere if it does in there online owners manual or any where else that I have looked. I see the K3II does have IR.
Any help appreciated

Down the road not to far off this fall I want to but an Pentax camera. I have had several a few years back and had excellent luck with them. I do not want to get into a full frame camera. Of the cameras that are available which one would you recommend? I do mostly wildlife birds lots of lake and river settings old farm houses and car races and car shows and air planes and air races. I like to do all around photography. I will likely buy the camera with no lens and add one at the same time. I guess now its the KP, K3II and ??. looking for feedback on what you would recommend to get with your knowledge on Pentax most likely a fast shutter.

I always read pros and cons on using filters and which filters and when do you use them in doors outdoors and some say all the time in or out. My self I have always used protection filters on every lenses I have had and I know some say they are not needed. Should a person use UV filters and when? I have used polarizing filters in the past with good results. What are your thoughts on the different filters and which ones do you like and use the most in photography. I will add ND filters. Thanks

On the K5II will this lens work fine on this camera. I want a good zoom in this range. I have an 18-135 and want more reach in a zoom lens feedback appreciated Thanks

Would you get ride of your K3II and get a new KP Pentax? What would keep you from doing this? I am on the fence on both cameras. The main thing I do like better on the new KP is its being able to move the rear screen especially for over head and low shots. Give your pros and cons on upgrading to the KP? Feedback greatly appreciated.

If I do this It will probably be the 300mm F/4. I think it will do what I want and I am usually pretty good at sneaking up on things. I had a TC on a Canon a few years back and sold it. It was a little to soft on the top end as I expected it to be. The 300 is a fast enough lens as I do not do much photos in real low light as I can adjust the ISO to some point to make up some of it. I sure agree about there TC. For me it is way over priced compare to other makes you would think they would see that and adjust the price to sell more of them. I will certainly never buy one except used in pristine condition down the road. Thanks to all who responded Bill

Looking to get a Pentax KP or the Pentax K-3II with the 18-135 kit lens. What I want to know and need feedback for a good lens for Wildlife and Birding? Pentax does not have a big selection in the 300 to 400mm range. Would the prime 300mm lens be a good one for what I want to do? I also see there is a 70-200 lens but for me I do not think it will have the reach I would like to have. Then there is the 150-450mm which is out of my price range. I looked at Tamron and Sigma and they also do not have much in the 300-400mm range either. Need feedback on a good lens for my type of photography and all help appreciated. Thanks Bill
