Thanks for the bumps - may have a local buyer; it's her first serious camera - she said she did hours of research and concluded that the K-70 is the best value for money (can't disagree with her there ;-)). We arranged to meet on Sunday - if the sale goes through, I'll mark the item as sold.

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing Item for Sale FINAL ORICE DROP! $470 Shipped!! PENTAX K-70 + 18-135mm WR LNIB - 382 Shutter Count Asking Price 470.00 USD Item Location
Ashkelon (Israel) Item Description
I bought this a little over 4 weeks ago from a local brick and mortar store (hence the low shutter count) mainly out of curiosity, but have decided that - despite its excellent IQ - I prefer the smaller form factor of my mirrorless cameras.
As you would expect from nearly new equipment, both the camera and the lens are completely spotless with no blemishes (cosmetic or otherwise) whatsoever.
The strap and the lens hood are unused. So you are basically getting an almost new camera for a fantastic price.
The kit will be shipped in its original box, (which got a little beaten up in the storeroom). For extra protection and peace of mind, I will double-box the package. Rest assured that it will be packed very well.
I will also throw in a 32GB SD card (Class 10) that was purchased together with the camera.
I have 100% feedback on ebay (amyisraelchai) and fredmiranda (Stoppeddown), and here as well :-)
If you are interested, please PM me.
Thanks for looking!

Well, looks like everybody is having a good time...I'll leave you at it :D
Seriously though, I made need some endorphins if my wrist doesn't get used to this thing ;)
In the meantime, I'm going to attempt to break the 200 shutter count barrier and will post the best (or worst depending on how they are received) of my efforts soon...

Thanks for the advice and I agree 100% with your observations. Believe it or not, I do not post to social media :-o
It's common knowledge that some of the most stunning images out there are not true reflections of the actual colors at the time of shooting, and I'm fine with that. Art is art, regardless of how it was created.
But the ability to capture a scene as I remember it is important to me.

Hi,
I'm aware that all camera's have their own "color science", but I always prefer the colors to be reproduced as accurately as possible.
So I'm looking for advice on how to achieve this with the K-70. I've been playing around with the various white balance options and custom image modes, but I wonder if there's some kind of magic formula that others are using?
I have noticed that reds are generally over-saturated and yellows are paler than they appear in reality.
Thanks,
Charlton

Hi,
I decided that my biceps could do with a good workout. As I hate the gym, I bought a Pentax K-70 instead :-)
And now for my question: I'm still in the testing phase, but I was a little surprised that I needed to switch to spot metering to expose the following scene correctly: Attachment 463346 Attachment 463345
Is the metering usually so unpredictable with the K-70?
Totally different question: I'm having a tough time deciding between the SMC Pentax-FA 50mm F1.7 or the newer SMC Pentax-DA 50mm F1.8 . Any words of wisdom from those who have used both?
Thanks,
Charlton

A dork with a Pentax? Is such a thing possible?? ;-). Joking aside (or not), I'd rather be a dork taking pictures than a cool dude picking up the shattered remains of his camera.

Camera is only a few week old and used a handful of times - no chance that it was damaged during use. Definitely an assembly line anomaly. ---------- Post added 06-14-15 at 05:49 PM ----------
Wow, just took a look on Amazon. A bit pricey, but may very well be worth it. ---------- Post added 06-14-15 at 05:53 PM ----------
Thanks for that. I will be looking at alternative camera straps/carriers - I actually had an OP/TECH strap (not the sling) which I used as an incentive to sell my Nikon D90 a few years back..

I was crossing the road on Friday with my two-week old K-3 + Sigma 70-300 APO dangling from my right shoulder when all of a sudden I felt the strap give way. Instinctively I grabbed the strap with my left hand just before the camera hit the tarmac. After my pulse returned to normal, I checked to see what happened and discovered that the plastic buckle was missing. Well, I soon found the buckle or what remained of it in the middle of the road - it had snapped in two! (I only found the half with the Pentax logo). And before anyone suggests that I am somehow to blame, the strap was threaded properly - obviously, some kind of manufacturing glitch. Luckily, my instinctive reaction prevented a major disaster - wonder how I would have been able to prove that the strap was defective. Anyway, I threaded the strap through the strap lugs, tied a knot and spent the rest of the day enjoying my Pentax :)
This is what snapped:

Of course, users that let the camera choose the focus point (i.e. beginners) would probably not be familiar with the phenomenon of back/front focus ;) ---------- Post added 06-07-15 at 04:40 PM ----------
Back focusing under Tungsten light was a well documented issue with the Nikon D7000 that I used to own - it used to drive me nuts!

Yes, I was actually curious as to whether this lens would need the same adjustment on another K-3 body. I would also posit the theory that a few shots in perfect focus (1 out of 10 for example) does not necessarily negate the possibility of a back/front focus issue. Ironically, in such a situation, a perfectly focused shot could be the result of the camera misfocusing (i.e. focusing on something other than what it believes is the intended subject).
