I have this lens case.
I was wondering what lens it was made for it.
It is a rather long case! Maybe a 300mm/4.0 or bigger?

Since I am switching back to Minolta, thought I would look at these under the same conditions.
K7 vs Maxxum 7D (not really fair)
Both lenses are about the same sharpness at F1.8
The Minolta at 1.4 is a bit softer
The 77mm has bad CA vs the minolta - which I was surprised

I have an older M42 mount lens that has dust and a bit of haze on the internals. No fungus.
Any suggestions on where to get this cleaned at?

The first one I bought never focused.
The replacement now quit focusing...
Amazing for the price of this lens....

I am currently using downloader Pro (Breezesys)
It will download from my memory card, create and archive by the image creation date, then delete the card.
That is all I need for linux.

I need to do some reading on how to install stuff.
I can't seem to figure it out.
I am also not sure what the best directory structure is yet.

It looks like that software needs KDE.
I am running Ubuntu with gnome... so I guess I cannot install it?

Looking for options to download and label from a SD card and handle RAW files.

Another great lens.
I shot this out my back door wide open ISO 100.
Color and contrast is great.
Sharpness is decent considering it was wide open.
Focus is smooth and it does close focus also.
Anyone else own this one??? |

I have always read and saw images using this lens, but I shot one today for the first time.
Not as sharp wide open as a 90~100mm type macro. But this is a ZOOM.
BUT 90-180mm zoom is VERY nice.
Tripod adaper will be nice with a monopod.
Color and contrast are like other Series 1 lenses.... Amazing!
I was worried because it is not an A lens. But hitting the green button is not a big deal with Macro work.

I don't get why pentax would have two lenses that are so similiar?
16-50mm/2.8
17-70mm/4.0
Unless there is a big price difference??
Maybe they should work on something in the tele end instead....

Since I am new to Pentax I have yet to use the camera on my Stroboframe Press T bracket.
What are the options to mount the flash and connect to the camera.
With my Minolta I needed a cord and a flash shoe
With my Canon I just needed a cord.
Is it possible to just use the flash in wireless mode and forget the cord?

I currently have a Tamron 300mm/2.8 that I am not using much due to the size and weight - I have kids now....
I see that Pentax will have a 60-250mm 4.0 soon, which will be perfect.
Tamron 70-200mm/2.8 with a 1.4X would also work - but it is not out either.
I do have the Pentax 50-135mm/2.8 Are there any teleconverters that work with SDM? Or will the lens revert to normal type focus?
Sigma has a 100-300mm/4.0 lens also, but it is expensive.

I used the older Tamron 80-200mm/2.8 or maybe 70-200mm?? Can't remember.
It was the AF version in Minolta A mount.
It was built very close to the Minolta 80-200mm/2.8 APO lens.
Wide open the minolta beat it on corner sharpness and the purple fringe problems on digital cameras.
Is the new tamron going to have in-lens motor?
It will weight more then the current pentax also...
I have used the following
Minolta 80-200mm/2.8 APO (Black and White versions)
Tokina 80-200mm/2.8 (Minolta A)
Tamron 80-200mm/2.8 (Minolta A)
Canon 70-200mm/2.8
Canon 70-200mm/2.8 IS
Canon 70-200mm/4.0
Sigma 70-210mm/2.8 HSM (Canon)
And now the pentax 50-135mm/2.8
The best one for me....
Pentax 50-135mm/2.8 (weight, focus speed and image quality)
Canon 70-200mm/2.8 IS (Focus speed and IS)
Minolta 80-200mm/2.8 HS (image quality!!)

I did some pixel peeping today.
Compared my 50mm/1.2 vs 50mm/1.4 lenses
I shot 1.2 1.4 2.0 and 4.0.
I cannot honestly see a difference as far as sharpness goes. The lenses are probably beyond the limits of the K10D camera.
I did notice the 50mm/1.4 had a touch more contrast wide open.
I dunno if it is worth it or not now... $500 for the 50mm/1.2 and $200 for the 50mm/1.4 (+AF)
$300 could go towards a 31mm/1.8 lens...

I was just playing around with the new lens.
Cannot believe how sharp this thing is!!
The more I use this Pentax K10D the more I like it.
There were things I loved and hated about Minolta and Canon...
But there is only a few quirks on the Pentax camera...

I have used the Canon 85mm/1.2
The focus is slow and focus distance is poor.
It was not my favorite lens.
The Canon 85mm/1.8 is very nice.

I really don't need a 1.2 lens. And I already own the 50mm/1.4FA which I used 1 time.
I really like the smooth manual focus on the 50mm/1.2.
The AF confirm is nice also.
Maybe I can get a different focus screen for manual focus???
Anyone else picked the MF 50mm/1.2 over the AF 50mm/1.4??
