Get up: Dark... Come home after work: Dark...
Kinda "forced" to work with the household items for now, and finding interest in every day object can be challenging at times.
Regards,
D ---------- Post added 01-17-2020 at 05:47 PM ---------- Found this part of James Clear writing rather interesting: "...On the first day of class, Jerry Uelsmann, a professor at the University of Florida, divided his film photography students into two groups.
Everyone on the left side of the classroom, he explained, would be in the “quantity” group. They would be graded solely on the amount of work they produced. On the final day of class, he would tally the number of photos submitted by each student. One hundred photos would rate an A, ninety photos a B, eighty photos a C, and so on.
Meanwhile, everyone on the right side of the room would be in the “quality” group. They would be graded only on the excellence of their work. They would only need to produce one photo during the semester, but to get an A, it had to be a nearly perfect image.
At the end of the term, he was surprised to find that all the best photos were produced by the quantity group. During the semester, these students were busy taking photos, experimenting with composition and lighting, testing out various methods in the darkroom, and learning from their mistakes. In the process of creating hundreds of photos, they honed their skills. Meanwhile, the quality group sat around speculating about perfection. In the end, they had little to show for their efforts other than unverified theories and one mediocre photo..."
So let the daily self challenges continue!

Indeed glad to hear that you are safe! What a horrible times Australia is going through. Working with cancer patients for many years, I've developed rather "thick" skin, one almost has to imo (don't get me wrong, I'm still very compassionate), but every time I see your country's animals in the burning fires, the photos of what this fire left behind, everything inside of me just turns inside out!!! Very best wishes to all!

Thanks!
Indeed, my thoughts exactly. Snap and go, no much thought process, not much effort... Smartphone indeed have their place: great for quick captures on the go, like documentation of transmission rebuild for example.
At the same time, while looking through some of the first DSLR photos, 2006, with good ole K10D and a single lens I've had at that time - great memories, enjoyed every day using it for quite some time! What I also realized, that less lenses I've had, the more photos I took and more successful I was and delivering something to my own satisfaction.
With that in mind, as an additional challenge from me to me, this month is a Single camera with a single lens. It's time for me go back to basics!

D

Cheers all!
Over the last few years, I noticed that I've gotten "lazier" and lazier with the use of "camera" built into the smartphone. Less demanding, there at any time, effortless... And with that, I also noted that I slowly drifted away from photography in general because of that... Changing it this year, I miss the camera and lenses, the feel, the touch and the shallow DOF that I love. Challenge from me to me this year, get re-acquainted with the camera gear.
Happy New Year all!

D

For the record, according to the news, this is the coldest stretch of weather in our state since 1960's. Old man winter, step on to a Lego already! Camera is cold at 1F to hold in your hands while looking for a piece of architecture... So there, and now can concentrate on the next week's theme...

I'm in... To be honest, weekly "themes" helps me with selection of the subject or the scene, does it work all the time - nope, but I do appreciate the having those "aids" available.

Thank you very much, appreciate it!
Now, I've had the Pentacon version of Meyer Optik for a long time as well, 100mm f2.8, before I purchased it, after reading up some reviews, it was said to be identical to Diaplan in terms of optical construction and bokeh rendering, but as long as I've owned both, while I like Pentacon, my version does not do the bokeh balls the same as Diaplan, just not as pronounced...

You know, my first DSLR was actually Canon, and though the camera never "felt right" for me, the Sigma 18-200mm mounted to it - loved it, good memories of that lens ;)

Certainly enjoyed your spring floral sets, thank you for bring spring to us sooner! Very nice emotive B&W candid as well, certainly showing the range potential of these re purposed lenses!
Regards,
D ---------- Post added 04-23-2015 at 03:36 PM ---------- Very windy today, but I had to try my Russian 78mm f2.8 triplet projector, not that I've finally adapted it to hollowed out "pinhole" body from Lensbaby and "hooded" inserted into Composer...
These are shot with Nikon D200, had to air it out, has not been used for ages, almost forgot that not having SR built into the body does not forgive the "laziness" of easy shooting on my part :o
