The sand and duck's shadow are real noisy, I'm guessing the shadow threw off the camera's judgment, probably shot with a higher ISO than needed. The rest look ok to me.

I have a (cheap, it was free) 75-300 already too, but it's a big much to lug around all the time, usually a 200mm will do the work, but my 300mm doesn't fit into any of my camera cases! (unless I put the camera into a gadget bag) This looks like a great deal!

Hum, perhaps this is one of those rare instances film might be better? Tho I am sure others have taken digital pictures of the Northern Lights?
I took a photo of the Shuttle Launch the other week, high noise - but that was expected Attachment 9723 |

Colonial Photo and Hobby still doesn't care about Pentax (not bad if you need some misc accessories filters etc), I need to try Yes Brasil, they are literally down the street from me.....

Wow I really like, it almost seems a little too dark, but I think I am having "issues" with my monitor calibration, either the whole world is too dark, or I am the only correctly calibrated person.... :-) would like to see the exif info :-)

1. If you care about shooting in Pentax RAW format (I prefer DNG anyway).
2. Menu system appears a bit different, some people prefer the Samsung actually.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Yah, I think I have about 10 gigs worth, or about 8.3X more than my first hard drive running windows 95, and then I gota think about my Dad's first MAC SE 20, 20 meg hard drive, that would only hold 1 DNG photo from my K10D and probably take it 20 minutes to write it to the hard drive!

"can even release the shutter for you when in focus" can the K10D do this? if so how? that sounds neat. I've even read the field guide for it, I don't recall this feature.

Wow!! had an unexpected result and had to delete test and retype my message, it appears to work for both Auto and Center focus, also it's like the trap focus is like a "single focus" and not continuous, I had to keep pushing 1/2 way down on the shutter button a bunch. My expected result was that only the center would work, or even on auto it would only try and detect a center focus, but I was wrong!!

I have "war driven" with a GPS and external antenna from Columbus, OH to Atlanta, GA and back - I found hundreds if not thousands of open networks :-) and to think... they SELL internet at Starbucks and other places? That's like trying to sell air!:D

If someone has their wireless router setup for open access, that type of person has other bigger problems than wanting to wirelessly sending their pictures to their computer.:eek:

Oh Dear God! Yah, throw in a RSA hard token too *rolls eyes*, finger print and retina scan authentication, I want the camera to scan my retina when I place my eye to the viewfinder for each photo. Also need to rotate encryption keys every 5 seconds. You don't restrict based on MAC address too? One thing I would like is one of those SD cards that automatically encrypts the photos as it stores them, but haven't gotten past the initial price, but I don't think anyone is going to try and steal my photos... yet. :-) |

Awesome, thanks for the info guys! Next question, does anyone know if a MF lens will get the beep on the K10D? (the guy with the Sigma said his would only beep with an AF lens set to manual, but not a manual lens). I'm probably going to be adding some inexpensive older prime lenses to my bag, if it beeps then that would be wonderful, if NOT, then I may look into switching to the split focus screen more heavily.... even the green light would be good enough, just SOMETHING that would help. I would like to get a nice macro and super telephoto lens, I probably can't afford a newer AF lens for either. And in either case, macro or super telephoto, not having AF would not be a big deal (at least for what I plan on using them for).

Question, I noticed that when I manually focus my K10D I get a beep when it gets into focus, just as if I had allowed the camera to auto focus all on it's own, aside from thinking this is probably one of the coolest features in the world... is this common on other SLR's with auto focus? Am I just easily amused?

My last concern would be the wireless "taking away from image quality" - I mean the capability can already be built into the SD card itself. We are talking about two very different things (image quality and a feature). That's almost like saying "I wouldn't want XM Radio in my car if it would make my car any slower or less fuel efficient". The biggest advantage I would see is having an instant "backup" it's not the time it takes to swap SD cards that is a problem, it's what could happen to that card before you get home or to a computer. I don't always carry my laptop with me everywhere and stop to make a backup of my SD card when I go to switch to another card. I have a dozen memory cards, capacity isn't a problem. Another point of view I read in a book is a pro photographer who doesn't necessarily like to use huge memory cards, if that 1 card dies or is lost/broken then his ENTIRE photo shoot could be lost, and not just part of the photo shoot. Well, he is about as OCD as I am and he has assistants who make instant back ups on site then they take more than 1 vechicle back to the shop and they always carry 1 of the back ups in a separate vehicle. Even with all that said, I don't think the wireless is a practical application right now, in 5 years it will probably be just as standard as image stabilization is today.
