TOUGEFC, is that the 40mm Bofors anti-aircraft gun thats near the maritime museum at southbank? or the one at the Morningside RSL?

ive just purchased a 14/2.8 from the marketplace here for landscape and stormscapes on my K-7.. and cant wait for it to arrive before our storm season kicks off here as im hoping that this lens will give me an awesome Wide perspective of some of the more spectacular structure we get around here...and being able to shoot at 2.8 should aid in low light conditions..

anyone here use this lens for similar work?

ive managed to acquire a mint, brand new FA80-320mm lens for a very good price..should be here in the next few days..ive had to penny pinch to get that too, due to being off work with my second hernia operation in 3 months..

next chance to try it on fast jets is the Ipswich carols by candle light F-111 dump and burn...and then the F-111 farewell flight on the 3rd..

Lens: Tokina SZ-X 60-300mm manual focus
Aperture: F5.0
Exposure: 1/320th of a second.
ISO: 3200

While not technically perfect, to me its got a certain "atmosphere" to it..

Hi all..

Ive just stepped up from a K100D to a K-7 and im looking at upgrading from my Tokina SZ-X 60-300 Zoom to something reasonably priced ;) before Avalon airshow next year..ive got a few shots from the K-7 at Brisbane's Riverfire that are what id consider keepers considering i spent the evening blundering about with a Push-Pull manual focus lens that had to be chopped up a lil so the P/R mount would work on my K100d and the K-7..

heres an example or three..(clickable thumbs, blackhawk is full sized, the other two are crops)

But i would like something within a similar focal length that works as an AF lens at a reasonable price (the Tokina only cost me $36AUD and serves me well except it is soft at 300mm when shooting distant aircraft) and i know that i wont match the value for money my SZ-X has given me... especially its sturdy all metal construction!

any help or suggestions would be great, thanks..however due to my not so good experiences with the sigma 18-50 kit Lens from the K100d..id sooner take a slight step back from that brand..

yeah..the secondary shock was enough to give me chest pains and a few other lil issues..

i am really looking forward to this season...and using my new Camera...but ill play it on the safe side a bit..

The K100d is now my wife's and shes learning about photography now too...it still functions ok..but has a few little issues now with the whole shutter flipping fit thing it does and the cable remote sockets an unwilling accomplice nowadays..as with the cable switch..so ill have to do a work around somewhere there..

Hi all,

Ive been registered for a fair while but absent..life gets on top of you and you run outta internerd time when family and other pursuits demand more attention..

ive had a K100D for about 3 years, and besides for a few minor electronic tantrums its served me well, my main photography subject is weather and Lightning, and for this its done its duty..its been drenched, knocked about and together with the Naff bugger that was using it at the time..Zapped quite well on December 13 last year..the camera had a few minor ill effects, but otherwise still functional...i had a lil fly across the yard, a small burn on my hip and left foot...

with the new storm season coming ive decided it was time to upgrade to a better unit, so ive now purchased a K-7 with the 18-55mm WR kit lens and i plan on getting more into the thick of things this year..

i also have a few "love jobs" shooting weddings and a few Glamour practice models to experiment with..

so thats me and my pentax stable..ive got a mix of lens..and i like to shoot weather and landscapes..and skin..

i just jumped onboard with a new DA-L 18-55 that jsherman999 offered me for an excellent price, it has to be better then the 18-50 sigma im currently using, and being i don't swap lens that often wear shouldent be an issue with the plastic mount..

next stop...16-45..one day...:D

Thanks for the quick reply's guys,

ive currently got an add in the Wanted section of the marketplace and the only response ive had so far is for a DA-L, and theres very little info about on image quality for them..

the going rate on here for DA 18-55 is about half what eBay runs to and about quarter what the going rate is locally for a new lens..

what id really like to get my hands on is a 16-45, but alas, they are always beyond my means..

Big Dave, ive shot an email off to BeachCamera to see what the postage quote runs to for a brand new lens Via USPS First class mail international..see how we go, at least the Aussie dollars a little stronger today..

Hi, i cant seem to find much information anywhere online about the image quality of this lens compared to the metal mount DA 18-55..

Im looking for a cheap wide replacement for my abysmally soft Sigma 18-50 f3.5-5.6 and im wondering how much of a step up this would be as a budget lens?

any help would be great..

Cheers, Shayne.
