New to automatic lenses (no not just aperture you old timers) I have discovered the magic wonderland that is TAV mode on my K5.
I've come from a history of M's and Taks, so all those silly other modes where just wasted space on a dial really. I mean, M, X, TV. The END!
But god TAV mode is perfect. I'm happy with the higher ISO's on my K5 when I'm out shooting without much prior thought, it's great.
Toys are good, I feel like I've just woken up from the 80's.
I have the glorious fortune to have a day off so I'm spending it at a French car festival. DA*'s with me, TAV mode, I'm gonna have a hoot :P

Third party batteries are generally fine.
I <3 my Wasabi charger. It's a million times better than the stock pentax one for sheer convenience.
The Wasabi batteries are good too. I have 4 of them, purchased at different times. The older 2 outlast the pentax one noticeably. The newer 2 are comparable to the Pentax.
Oh - and I also use them in my wife's Q - they seem to do better than the stock battery there, as well, not that that says much... that thing has abysmal battery life.
And I used to use them in my old Nikon D5100 (after they released one that had the chip that makes nikon cameras think they're legit nikon batteries). Never an issue.
I just wish they sold the front bit of the charger separately so I could get a second one for the Q and the K5 without having to buy 2 more chargers and 4 more batteries. (the base of the charger is the same for most of their batteries. The cradle for the batteries locks into it. So, if I had a couple extras, I could bring 2 charger bases, 2 pairs of cradles, and charge 2 q batteries at once or 2 k5 batteries at once, depending on what I was likely to need.

This photo really impressed me about the K3. The scene was very high contrast and I was able to make decent photos by pulling the highlights and the shadows. Really good dynamic range in the K3

We have a new family member, Luna. She's a mutt, and looks like she won't get very big. Her mom is a shiba inu mix and the father is unknown. She's pretty cute and a good dog so far especially considering how young she is. We had to keep her in quarantine for the first week because there's some doggie sickness going around and she was too young to vaccinate. Now she has had her shots and is starting to get out with us a little.
Here she is watching the kitty who isn't as charmed by her as the rest of us are.

Here they are, my two animals. The cat is Bobica (Berry), she's six years old, and my best friend is golden retriever Skipper, twelve years old. Yesterday I take these shots in my garden. Skipper is just resting on the summer sun, and Bobica, luckily, always do some action. This time she climb on our cherry tree and watching the neighborhood.

Cool - How big is it? What's its name?
Here's a photo of Jasper that I made for my photography course last week - experimenting with low key lighting.

So nice here in the NW last weekend, clear blue skies and views of snow capped mountains...hard to beat. Cool perspective/framing on that photo and great color. I have been reading very good things about the 18-55.
Went for a hike on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge near Coyote Wall. Views were awesome....the burger after the hike, maybe better ;) Held up traffic a bit to get some shots of my buddy on his bike. All with the X100 |

Went up to my sister's for Easter feast with the family... Took a nice shot of her Maine Coon, Angus, who always likes to pose for the camera. Brand-new K-30 and DA 18-135 WR (yes I am impressed with it)

Another day, another dog walk...
The trail is really icey, but it doesn't seem to bother the dogs. |

A Pale-headed Rosella, also in my back yard. Same gear as the photo of the Lorikeets above.

A pair of Scaly-breasted Lorikeets in my back yard yesterday. The birds and background were in deep shade, so the flash picks up a luminous quality in the feathers and creates great contrast to the dark background.

A couple from today with the HD 1.4x TC and DA* 300mm f/4. These two are mostly static shots. All my BIF attempts were nowhere even close. I've shot over a thousand test shots trying to dial this combo in. I think I must be getting too old to do this anymore. :(
