Thanks for the replies above.. I was a little worried about the 8mm.. Im not sure why.
I have a few manual lenses now and love the challenge. However focusing can become quite a chore.. I suppose I didn't read up on Fisheyes and the whole 'hyper focus' thing..
So in the end.. Im really happy.. Ive only shot off a few shots indoors so far.. Its pretty grey here in Sydney on Xmas day (Summer mind you) - So i was at f3.5, handheld - See below.
Will take her outside tomorrow and play around with focusing from the scale on the focus ring and estimated guesses.
Anyway.. Heres one. |

Got a Rokinon 8mm f3.5 today for Xmas.
Its my second Rokinon lens. The first being the 85mm.. I currently shoot with my beautiful K-01 and have had lots of fun with manual glass.
Im finding though with the 8mm, focusing is a little different? Harder? Easier maybe?
With the other lenses I find Focus Peaking works week, and Im able to set focus pretty week on the LCD. However I find Focus Peaking does not work well with the 8mm... Its as if there is a larger range in focus?
Do wider lenses tend to be sharp across the field?

Thanks. I got off a few good shots. Still had focus troubles as mentioned earlier.
Not as sharp as I would have hoped. But this was indoors and handheld. So there may have been some movement.

Got my lens last week.. Got to take it away for the weekend. So ive spent a little time with it.
THis lens is only my second auto lens.. The first being the kit 18-55 that came with my K-01.
I have found that when switch to Auto-focus, the K-01 and 35mm had trouble finding focus. I was shooting outdoors, but under cover.. There would have been enough light, but it seemed that, while focus did lock - It missed the subject I was focusing on.
Does anyone else have trouble focussing with the DA35? Is there a specific focus mode I should set?

Wow. Nice find.. Great product.
I've seen the LCD viewers before. But this also has the top down viewer of which I'm looking for.
Pricey and bulky. But it's certainly worth consideration.
