Did someone say there's an authorized Pentax service center in Chandler? Who and where?

This has to be some kind of wild rumor! Such price increases would indicate an inflationary economy. The media say there is NO inflation in our economy, so this must be some kind of rumor! FOX news said so!

I have had this K-30 since Christmas and had never in my life even touched a Pentax. But, holy crap! I could swear these Pentax lenses beat my Nikons! Un -real!!!! And my Nikon lenses are not a bunch of dogs. (I had a couple of Vivitars back in the old days, and they were not the best glass.)

It's just too darn pricey for what it is. I use other cameras for my serious work and a little Panasonic for casual snapshots. Where is the market for this little fellow?

Let this be a lesson: Never, ever, under any circumstances purchase cameras, lenses, or related accessories from China. You are only asking for trouble when you do.

You probably are as nutty as a fruitcake! But don't tell my New Mexico born wife that I said that....she would string my ass up and take pictures.

Yes, indeed! And so is New Mexico, and also Utah.

Say, could we do the Japanese garden not this Saturday, but the next? I received my new lens yesterday and I'm ready to try it out.

Yeah, I have shot balloons before back in Tennessee. Was shooting kodachrome 25 most of the time. You ever shoot film?

I think the 12th would be fine with me. I have a lot to learn. I'll have to check with wifey and make sure she has not planned something....you never know!

Dma110: Thanks for the offer but I will be receiving another lens in a few days. Tell you what, on a cloudy day, we should tackle those old machines at the Gilbert Historical Museum. If I find something that's killer, I may go back and take my 4x5. (Yes, I still shoot film...but not much)
BTW, let's try to do something specifically in Gilbert or near Gilbert.

I only have the one lens, the 70-210, hope to soon have another. That is not the lens for cityscapes or landscapes.

Glad to hear that! Your photos are living proof that it is not which camera you are holding in your hands, it's what is between your ears that makes the difference! I just bought an old 70-210 FA lens rated by many as a "sleeper" which has gone unrecognized because the thing is ugly. Ugly is as ugly does and I suspect this lens will look like a diamond after a few shots!

As a general rule, I'm rather disappointed in the newer lenses I find these days. Maybe it's the economy. Maybe it's something else. They just don't make them like they used to unless I spend over a thousand bucks for a new lens, I seem to have to compromise more so than I did some 40 years ago. The old lenses have character, at least the Nikons do. My son just gave me a new Pentax K-30, so I cannot speak too much for Pentax lenses except those I know who use the older lenses rave and rant about how damn good they are. Guess I'll find out.
The photo of Freedom Street at night is absolutely superb.

I just received my first Pentax camera as a Christmas gift from my son. I previously owned a Sigma SD9 (not as bad as they say, but bulky) I've been shooting with Nikon film cameras and large format and a few others for nearly 43 years. Now, I have to find a "walkaround" lens for this new K-30. My previous experience tells me that the longer and faster a lens, the heavier it is. At my age, I'm in no mood to carry a heavy chunk of glass in my bag. 17-55 is the best range for me. Seriously consider what you will be shooting. Primes are better for quality but zooms are more practical in actual usage. I purchased the legendary 70-210 zoom today, but I will generally not carry it unless it's in a backpack. Oh, my lumbago!
