D-BG2 Grip - no autofocus?

Not that it makes any difference, but remote AF is on in the custom settings. I know the AF/MF switch isn't the problem because the half-press on the body works as expected.

And now it won't work again. It just goes straight to firing the shutter regardless of whether it's got focus lock or not.

I know there's been discussion before about the lack of an AF button on the D-BG2 grip, but is it supposed to auto focus when half-pressing the shutter?

Welcome to the site John. I'm from Bendigo as well, studied a bit of photojournalism last year (and various other things before that).

It's 173.5 volts according to Photo Strobe Trigger Voltages, so a good chance it would fry the camera.

HTML Redirect Help Needed
Posted By Richard3550

You're overcomplicating things twice by using HTML and JavaScript, because Apache can already do this by itself.

You need to edit httpd.conf and add the following:

Code:

ServerName page1.company.com

DocumentRoot /home/site1/html

RedirectPermanent / http://redirect1.company.com/

ServerName page2.company.com

DocumentRoot /home/site2/html

RedirectPermanent / http://redirect2.company.com/

obviously changing 111.111.111.111 to the server's actual IP address, page1.etc and redirect1.etc to the actual hostnames, and /home/site1/html etc to the actual document roots. I hope this makes sense, if not read the Apache documentation and google "apache redirect".

Taking color out of a photograph

Exactly what I was going to say. ;) For Dummies:
1. Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Hue/Saturation. Click OK.
2. Drag the Saturation slider all the way down to -100 and click OK. The whole image should now be in black and white.
3. Bring up the Layers palette and select the newly created layer "Hue/Saturation 1".
4. Use the paintbrush tool to paint over areas you want to return the colour to (black will let the colour come through, shades of grey will let lesser amounts through, and white will block it.)

SupremeMoFo - I really like the treatment of that image - gives it an almost anachronistic feel. Well done.

I have participated in the Relay for Life here in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia, for the past two years (2006 and 2007) in a team with my best friend. He had been suffering migraines and seizures for several years, and was told that they either indicated epilepsy or a brain tumor before last year's Relay in early April. Later that month the diagnosis of a tumor was confirmed. He had surgery in late May 2006 and last week he was given the all clear. I took this photo of him at this year's Relay at the end of March.
