Hi Folks!
One of our Pentax bodies, a K20D, is failing to autofocus with any lenses.
In either the AF.S or AF.C position, the lens will travel its full focus range, but will never find focus, even in bright, high-contrast conditions.
We are experienced Pentax users, and yes, I have reset the body to factory default settings.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks!

I've tinkered with a variety of color balance settings to deal with the issue, but if I choose a less saturated setting, I find myself with unpleasantly unsaturated images. And saturation is needed when you're printing to newsprint.
That's an interesting thought. I'll switch to "Daylight" for awhile and see what happens.
Thanks!

Hi Folks!
I'm dealing with some weirdness with my K5, and I'm hoping someone here can explain ...
Take a look at the two images attached here. They're not great images, but they do illustrate the problem of odd color shifting with changes in exposure.
There's only one stop (1 EV) of exposure difference, but you can see how the reds are shifted and somewhat blown out in the lighter exposure.
And generally, I've found that the K5 color rendition changes radically with relatively small changes in exposure. That's tough for me doing news photography.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hi Folks!
When using the K-5 in movie mode, loud noises seem to be suppressed. Does the camera's audio system have some sort of automatic gain control built in? Can it be defeated?
Thanks!

I have no experience with the K10, but I can say that my K20 is a pleasure to use and creates great images.

Cool. Does the CT4 communicate with the K10/K20 anything other than sync info? That is, is there any thru-the-lens metering going on? Thanks!

I can't speak for the teens, but my K20 was sitting in my truck in 20 degree temps when I was sent out to a fire scene a few days ago. No problems at all. Enjoy!

Hi Folks!
Is the DA 15mm f/4 a rectilinear lens? That is, not a fish eye?
Thanks!

Hi Folks!
I'm a Pentax user since the 70s, and the bulk of my photo work now is as a news photographer...
I just picked up a used K20D, and I absolutely love it. The key controls (metering, auto focus, bracketing, et al) are easily accessible, and it's easy to hold steady, especially with the add-on battery grip. Most importantly, the images are wonderful.
However, back in the day when I was hiking and doing scenic photography, I would have hated it. The weight, especially with the add-on battery grip, is tremendous.
So, as always, it depends a lot upon your needs.
Enjoy!

Hi Folks!
For most of my shooting, I like to use the "Auto Bracket Drive Mode", that is, the mode where the camera automatically takes three shots at three different exposures.
But my K100D Super always forgets that I'm in that mode when I turn the camera off. Is there any way to force it to remember?
Thanks!

Ah, and now I can answer that question...
A few weeks back, I reset all the camera's settings to factory defaults. So I lost the auto focus setting I needed for the Takumar.
Thanks to all!

Hi Folks!
I'm trying an old Takumar 400mm on my K100D body, and when I do, I don't get shake reduction, whether or not the shake reduction switch is set to On or Off.
I don't get the focal length selector on startup, and the canceled shake reduction icon appears on the screen.
I get shake reduction with other M42 lenses. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Hi Folks!
I stumbled onto a nice clean AF500FTZ flash, and I've tried it on my K100D.
The flash is set for TTL and Auto Zoom. The body is set on "P".
The problem is that the flash appears to do a full power dump. All the images are almost completely washed out.
Do I have one of the settings -- on the camera or flash -- wrong?
Thanks!

Aren't there different brackets?
By the way, many thanks for your Pentax site! It's been very helpful to me!

Hi Folks!
Call me old school  but I've always loved the "potato masher" style of flash, and I have a chance to get one of the older Pentax AF400T flash units.
But with it I'll also need a matching bracket, cord and, I suspect, a hot shoe adapter. I see several of all of those. Which do I need?
Many thanks!

Thanks! I was actually able to pick one up yesterday, and in very early testing, it seems to work very well with the A*.
Thanks again to all!

Hi Folks!
Anyone care to suggest a teleconverter for the Pentax A* 300mm f4?
Thanks!
Dave
P.S. I tried the Pentax 2X-L but the extension collides with the rear lens element.

Hi Folks!
Just a little note for AF200FG flash users...
A 4-ounce, Glad-brand food storage cup works nicely as a flash diffuser for the AF200.
Just squeeze it into a bit of an oval, and if fits nicely and holds securely on the nose of the flash.
It doesn't have a dramatic effect, but it does have an effect -- especially in rooms with low-ceilings. Combine the cup with the built-in, fold-down diffuser for a greater effect.
Enjoy!
Dave
P.S. For fun, you could paint the cup for different effects.

Hi Folks!
I've acquired a very nice 100mm Macro FA, but I'm unclear about the proper usage of the "Clamp" and "Focus Range" controls.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
