Great idea! I have the extension tubes and could have one mounted to a place to fit into the recessed flange. Thanks so much!

Pentax 645 Auto Bellows - part missing?

HI All,

I was lucky to scoop up some 645 auto-bellows and I wanted to try using them this weekend. They looked in perfect shape! However, I couldn't figure out how to use them as it appears that there is a male- insert missing from the back of the bellows. This appears to be a removable camera mount which sets into a recessed flange on the bellows and is held in place with a knurled set-screw. I imagine the idea is to remove that piece and mount it into the 645 camera body and then install the camera body with flange back into the bellows.

I've included a picture of my bellows with the recessed flange and then a screenshot of the 645 bellows from Pentax Forums.

Can anyone please enlighten me, and more importantly, let me know if or how to get ahold of that back flange?

Cheers,
Roberta

I went into London Drugs in Duncan, B.C. near where I live. I asked the Camera guy if they had any Pentax gear. He said, 'Uh, is that even a camera brand?' I said, 'Ricoh'? He just shook his head. I've always supported London Drugs, but...?

HI, I'm a woman with a 645D and a 645z. Love them both. I use the D exclusively on tripod with a remote shutter release. The Z I can hand hold and still get a wealth of keepers. I love the feel of them in my hands. I don't find them heavy. In fact I hadn't put the straps on for a long time because they just felt great with the deep grip; Fit my hand perfectly. Anyways, I have a the new 55, a 75, the 45-85, the 80-160, the 120 macro, the 150-300, and I usually take them all with me when I go out. I have a kata bag and it's kind of a weird way to organize lenses, but the camera stays in the top section and it's easy to grab and feels safe. I wiped out last year; tore the ligaments in my ankle, tore my rotator cuff ripped up my knee and almost broke my elbow, but not a scratch on the gear that was on my back! I have a big Manfrotto tripod with a pistol grip and it holds the MF in any orientation-even at weird, camera-heavy angles. Anywiggles. Represent!

I was searching on youtube and happened upon an amazing photoshop teacher named Unmesh Dinda. His youtube channel is PIXimperfect and he is simply amazing! His videos are free and he is fun to watch, his instruction is snappy without being too quick, and he is a master of photoshop. I go to his youtube channel and he has years worth of videos and you can search them by subject if there's one thing you're trying to learn to do. That's how I go after it otherwise it is overwhelming. In each video, he shows various ways to achieve your editing goal - the pros and cons of this tool vs. that tool- and he shows how and why they're different and what situations they work best for. Did I mention he's a hoot? It's super fun watching him and I have to be careful or I'll just spend the evening watching Unmesh and forgetting what I was supposed to be doing. Seriously. Amazing! I don't use my 645D hand held at all. I end up tossing most shots if I do. The thing takes tack-sharp pictures with all lenses if used on a tripod and a remote control shutter release, so anything less sharp is disappointing. Good luck with it!

I got mine for less than a new K3iii. The CCD sensor has a lovely quality to the images. I doubt any new 645 would have a ccd sensor, so I'm quite happy with the 'oldie'.

I had a 645D and sold it when I needed the money for my business. I finally made back enough to buy another one. I'd highly recommend it. Just looking through the viewfinder is charming... the sound of the shutter? awesome! And the pictures? They will re-ignite you. Good luck with your healing.

Thank you so much for your quick response. I ordered 1 screen and 2 adhesives, assuming I'd screw one up. It's a gift for a friend who is getting into photography beyond an iphone, so I didn't want it looking sad. Thanks again!

Help!

Wondering if anyone has had success replacing the glass/plastic on the top screen on a K5ii? The screen beneath is fine, but the glass is pretty cracked and I'd like it to be more weatherproof.

Thanks.

Advice from fellow touring cyclist / bikers: which bag for Pentax K1 Mark II

HI, back in the day, I mountain biked through the Rockies with my Pentax SF10. I kept it in my handlebar bag and it was fine. The key was getting a bag that was more like a box... my handlebar bag had a plastic frame inside it which made it rigid and kept my camera safe. On the back of the bag was a large plate that slid over and attached to the strong handlebar mount that stayed on the bike. I lined this bag with foam and kept my camera, my walkman (ahem!) some tapes and spare batteries in there. Here's something similar... MEC World Tour Handle Bar Bag good luck!

Monitor for photo editing?

I just bought this one to attach to my macbook. LG 32inch Full HD IPS Monitor with AMD FreeSync It was $199 cdn and even came with the hdmi cable. I'm sure it's not a pro monitor but it's 32" and once I tweaked the colours they look the same as on my macbook. Here's the link to London Drugs where I got it https://www.londondrugs.com/lg-32inch-full-hd-ips-monitor-with-amd-freesync-.../L1120075.html. I am just hoping this will be a bit easier on my old eyes. Good luck!
