A few from my K10D. Unfortunately, it's starting to get the dreaded "memory card error" message.

My worst is a M42 Carl Zeiss Jena 50mm 2.8.
Poor picture quality, very slow. I keep it because it looks cool with the 'zebra' focus and aperture rings.

The first is the more desirable "Super-Multi-Coated version". Problem is, the aperture blades are broken on this one.
I also have a nearly perfect Super-Takumar version. Can i swap the front element assembly from the SMC to the Super? The threads are the same, and everything is the same size. So, it fits physically. Just wondering if there is a more subtle variation or compatibility issue i'm missing.
Any thoughts?

the stop-down mechanism does not work. It is taken apart, now in many pieces. All the elements are clean, as are the aperture blades (assembled). All the element are clean and fungus/scratch free. Let me know if you need any parts, no cost, just want to get rid of them.
I can post in the marketplace, not enough total posts yet, but I thought I'd be a waste not to offer.

Hope this is of use to some. I recently purchased a Helios 44M-4 from eBay, but found out I could only shoot wide-open (f2) when mounted on my K10d with the M42 adaptor. Modern Pentax DSLRs do not have the M42 provision to activate the aperture pin on the bacl of the lens. Thus, despite what the aperture dial reads, the lens will always remain at max aperture. This mod will change the aperture, as the dial indicates.
Conversion is very easy. You will need a small flat head screwdriver, a paperclip, and some wire cutters.
Start by removing the rear cover of the lens, 4 screws. When removing, careful not to lose the silver pin. Note orientation of the cover, it can only be re-installed one way.
Note the silver pin at the 9 o'clock position:
Remove the pin from the cover, and wrap a short section of paperclip tightly around the end as shown. This will act as a washer to keep the pin permanetely depressed.
Re-install the pin as shown in the pic, and mount to lens back. Careful to keep the cover orientation the same.
That's it. The aperture should change in unison with the aperture ring. Results: |

I did not know this. Is this why the K10d only goes to 1600?

I was lucky, some adjustments in the firmware service mode fixed the focusing issues on my K10d. Glad you got yours working.

A *ist DS2 or one of the other DSs or Samsung clones work well for travel/daily carry cameras. With a 50mm prime the kit is almost the size of the G10.

it goes from infinity to 0.4m in just 1/2 a turn while the 50mm 1.8 takes almost a full rotation to get to 0.45. Is this a characteristic of wide angle lenses? Seems to make it more difficult to focus precisely.

I recently purchased a K10d and decided to keep the Samsung GX-1S (*ist DS2) as a backup.
I'm now wondering if i'll ever use the DS2 again. The only thing I can think of is for the ISO 3200 (but no IS on the DS2), and the small size for travel.
