So, I have gotten myself in an interesting situation, I will be in very north Canada for the eclipse. I could use some advice before as I ran into some questions with my dry run tonight. Pls excuse me if they seem dumb. I stayed with ISO 100, F 5.6 and 1/125 at 300mm on a sigma 70-300. I chose the f stop as what the green button seems to know where the lens is sharpest in the MTF P mode.... right? It's a K1 mark 2. Someone mentioned 1/80 and F 8. Is the depth of field an issue or something, Most lenses I have are sharpest at about 5.6 is that about right? 2)I tried an extension tube and got a blurb instead of a moon and I have no idea of what went wrong. 3)I wonder about the teleconverter 's for PKA' and don't know what that is and if it is recommended. The 300 wasn't enough and I got noticeable grain structure. 4)I tried the pixel shift option and saw no difference, is it my perspective or is there a reason it wouldn't improve the image? 5)I tried multi exposure and stacked 5 images again, it was fine, just fine, should I edit the pics, (contrast and sharpness) first then stack? annnnd 6)any suggestions for the northern lights? If I should expose once for the start and something different for the Aurora? I didn't know how much I didn't know until just tonight..... I'm in a one shot situation so would appreciate some advice.

I would like to try the world of time lapse night photography, and couldn't find the sortof remote that I'd like for a pentax, for example for fire dancing I'd like to try a dozen quick images to stack and then a last one with a flash over a 10 second period, or 24 hr time lapse involving a flash when it gets dark. Anyhow, the remotes available for Pentax don't seem to be that advanced, and the third party ones aren't for Pentax. soooo one thought was, a trick to patch the pentax code onto something like this?

Promote Control - an advanced remote control for Canon and Nikon digital SLR cameras

I've read the mp3 player to trigger, and the phone app, but really isn't there something..... better?

Thanks for responding,

I'm in Kitimat. I will try experimenting, but will have to look up starting parameters.

Once I have something to begin with I'll let you know.

I'm in a work camp by a small town with snow. With two goals in mind.

One is to participate in an art show I've been invited to, it's theme is the circle and giving back to the community. I could think as far as incorperating a native medicine wheel, or a dream catcher (I'm on native treaty land) and ran out of ideas after that.

The other is night photography in a few areas. That trick where the stars streak from long exposures with an overlay of the northern lights. My camera asked for BLUB (?) when I changed to a long setting and wouldn't know where to start, or a whole bunch of pics layered. Cold weather drains batteries, so I don't know how others do it or if I'm on the right course here.

I crossed paths with a wolverine and a moose in the dusk or dark and wasn't prepared for a decent shot. It's a good idea to upset neither with a flash, but I'd like to have the right settings. I have 50mm prime with f/ 1.4.

Backlighting a nearby river and waterfall nearby at night would be a project, but again the technique I'm lacking.

Advice would be appreciated, meanwhile I'll try searching the forms.
