You can make jokes about this but....

The network security is, for me, not at all about the photos possibly transmitted wirelessly but to prevent access the other systems/data available on the network.

For a simple home network this might not be a big deal.
If you're running or connecting to a business network you might have equipment processing credit card transactions, storing personal data, financial data etc. etc. hooked up to the network.
In that case it doesn't hurt to go a few steps further in security and not relying on a single preshared key that never changes.

And no, I don't restrict anything based on MAC adresses.
Not worth the effort as MAC adresses are way too easy to spoof and the other measures I have taken IMO are strong enough not to need a crutch like MAC based "security" or "hiding" an SSID.

The most important reason for strong security on wireless networks more often than not has very little to do with the data actually being transmitted wirelessly by the proper users but everything with possibly exposing the wired network behind the access points through the wireless link.

I couldn't care less about someone intercepting a few of my photos but I will not compromise the security of the rest of my network for the convenience of transmitting them wirelessly.

If that's the choice I have I'll just take my SD card to my card reader instead.

It would not be the first wireless device I don't buy because of this and it probably won't be the last. No big deal.

SR.

Well, that would NOT be as secure as my existing wireless network.

WEP is pretty much useless nowadays, forget about that.
Almost as bad as an open network.

WPA-PSK is reasonable but not using preshared keys and adding 2-way authentication is still a lot better.

For anything to be connected to my network it needs to support WPA in enterprise mode with EAP-TLS authentication. Anything relying only on a preshared key will not connect to my network.

I'd be very interested in a wifi enabled camera/grip but only if I can load my own certificates for WPA in 802.1x mode, I'm not willing to compromise my networks security for it.
