DA* 200mm and DA* 300mm

I remember that when DFA 50mm and DFA 100mm macro lenses were introduced the designation DFA was put to mean he lenses are FF and 1.5x crop digital compatible. Since then no other DFA lens was introduced. Therefore, the DA lenses are not necessarily meant to be FF compatible. Which is a pity with all those FF rumors and wishful thinking.

Are you really using all of the lenses you own?

Nope, I'm not using all of them... But can't sell them either yet. I'm waiting for the FF DSLR. Then I will decide what to do, which to keep etc.

I second the 55-200. If AF is a must, then I think it's the best bang for the bang.

The ones I use most frequently:

DA 16-45/4
DA 50-200/4,5-5,6
FA 31/1.8 Limited
Tamron 90/2,8 Di
Tamron 1.4x AF TC

Then, I also have:

SMC-K 135/2.5
SMC-M 135/3.5
SMC-K 55/1.8
SMC-K 50/1.4
SMC-M 50/4 Macro
SMC-M 35/2
SMC-M 28/2.8
SMC-M 28/3.5

I am planning to get:

FA 43/1.9 Limited
FA 77/1.8 Limited
SMC-A 300/4 (or an F, FA if the price is OK; the DA* will be out of my reach probably :( )

I haven't decided which to get among these:

DA 14/2.8
DA 12-24/4
DA 10-17/3.5-4.5

These affect my decision making:

- too much overlap between 12-24 and the 16-45
- not much FOV difference between 16 and 14
- 10-17 is fisheye, defishing it harms edge/corner resolution/sharpness

Currently, I tend to get 12-24 and sell the 16-45. Well, I don't know yet for sure, and I am not in a hurry either...

Sony...Things to Come with Nikon & Pentax

I agree. Just imagine, hyperfocal settings for various lenses... Or, focus bracketing for macro... Or, exposure bracketing with 7 steps for HDR... personalization according to particular needs. Maybe, one day...

Hi Katsura,

thank you very much for your time and effort. It's great to be able to understand the exciting news about Pentax. I am eager to see the K100D and K10D upgrades this year, 'cause I have skipped K100D and K10D. My *ist DS still performs very well.

Greetings from Istanbul.

Well... Phil's reviews are okay... I mean, they are informative with respect to the samples and measures he delivers in each review. However, I prefer to draw my own conclusions about the so called evidences. Phil has his own expectations (bias) from a camera, and I have mine. I have stopped replying his mails in the forms long ago. I don't bother with his views. ;)

Hi Lance,

Nice to see you here, too.

I agree with you about what happened to Asad, and share the same hope for more democracy.

Hopefully, the more compact and affordable f4 or f4.5. The f2.8 would be out of my reach.

Hi,

I have just read this forum mentioned in dpreview.com Pentax SLR Talk and registered. Many familiar faces here...

For the ones who don't know me from dpreview.com, I am from Istanbul, Turkey. I am 43 years old. I work as a project manager in SAP implementations. I am involved with photography since I was 11.

Currently, I am shooting with a DS, FA 31 ltd, DA 16-45/4 and DA 50-200 mostly. See also my profile for some vintage lenses which I use from time to time.

A pleasure to meet you all.

Besides the obvious advantages for me like it's price, quality optics I like it's ergonomics, compact size of cameras and lenses. It's an SLR system with the goodies of a range finder system for me.
