Thanks everyone for all your input. My friend had a look at your postings the Forum and now has some helpful info to play around with when he goes to Japan. Thank you all, once again, for your help. :D

I'm hoping some fellow Pentaxians can help me. I have a friend who is going skiing in Japan and wants to know what are the ideal settings he should be using for taking photos of snow and ice landscapes. He envisages being in temps of minus 15 to minus 35 deg. I believe he will also be going to an area where there are frozen waterfalls. He has both Pentax and Sony DSLRs. As we don't have too much snow in this part of the world, and he lives on the Gold Coast, in Queensland, where there is never any snow, I though some of you learned folk out there, who have almost daily contact with the "white fluffy stuff" this time of year, may have some helpful info he could use. It would be much appreciated. :(

Nice shot of Horseshoe Falls, downunderman. There is a bit more water coming over them now, methinks.

Thanks, Dave. It was a difficult shot, quite close to the ground, with quite a strong wind blowing. It is a green comb spider orchid, endemic to the area in which I live.

Thanks, Susan. It is tiny, a bit larger than your thumb. Came across it quite by accident, it was all alone amongst a heap of ground litter.

Hi Jim 177,
I recently tried to buy a designated cable release for my Pentax K200D. The cost was going to be about $80 Aus. The supplier contacted me to inform they did not have the Pentax release in stock, but could supply me with a Canon RS60-E3 cable release for about $20 Aus. This cable release works fine with both the K200D and my recently purchased K5IIs. I have a designated Pentax remote, which works with both cameras. Hope this helps.
Cheers WH4 :)

Both shirts arrived today (Monday, 27/05). Fantastic effort Slick, well done, thank you. Only took about a week to get to Tasmania from the US, quicker than from some parts of Australia. I am off to Queensland tomorrow for a fortnight, they are packed already.:D
Cheers WH 4.

Thanks, Charlie.
I've had Pentax cameras since 1990, except for a short time with a Canon SX1-IS point and shoot. The K5IIs seems to be a great camera, so much more than my K200D. We never stop learning, as you say, which is a good thing.
Cheers, WH 4:)
