autofocus on K-5

Thank you everyone for your responses. I have not tried doing any tests on my camera or lenses yet, so I will look into that. I also plan to take it into to get cleaned. My lenses are, 18-135mm, 50mm 1.8, and I just recently purchased the 43mm, and the 77mm lens. I have 3 examples I quickly took out of my iPhoto trash, they all happen to be taken with the 43mm, but I have the same issue with whichever lens I am using which is why I've been thinking it was a camera issue, or of course a photographer issue haha, as I've still got a lot to learn. I have definitely played with all the autofocus points, and that helps, but when I'm just hoping to trust my central autofocus , for a quick photo. I really find I can't.

autofocus on K-5

Is anybody else frustrated with the autofocus on the K-5 or is it just me :( Over half my photos are blurry, and I lose some really great shots! Often I can't tell they are blurry from my viewfinder, it's when i upload them. I have better results using manual focus, but am trying to capture busy toddlers a lot of the time. Maybe it's just me and it will get better with experience, or perhaps it's just the nature of photography? Maybe I just need glasses. For now though it's bumming me out.

ready to upgrade to a new lens for my K-5

Hi,
I'm looking for some advice on a new lens, I am ready to upgrade. I have a K-5. The lenses I have at this time are the 18-135mm kit lens, and the 50mm 1.8. I love to take pictures of my family especially of my toddler, I'm also about to have a new baby so I'm looking forward to taking some newborn shots. I love to take portraits, and my other passion is travel photography. I would love a lens I could keep on my camera without switching as often. I have been researching the FA 77mm, the FA 31mm, and DA 70mm. Am I on the right track? Any guidance would be appreciated, and of course if there are any other lens suggestions?

Again, thanks for all the great advice, this is such a great forum! You have all been all been so helpful. So, I think I will go with the 18-135mm kit, since overall everyone seems to agree on that being a good place to start. I will be sure to order through the link from this site, and will hopefully be putting my order in today! hooray!

lens question for new K-5

Hello,
I would sure appreciate some advice. After tons of research, I have decided on the K-5 (sight unseen) for my first DSLR. I think I will be purchasing from Adorama, along with the additional warranty. My question is do I buy the body with the 18-55mm kit lens? Or do I buy the body only, and use the extra money, plus some for a better lens? Perhaps the kit lens is a good one to practice with as a beginner? I just don't know, I have read mixed reviews. I will be using this camera mainly for family photos, mostly of my toddler, and travel photography. Thanks in advance for your thoughts. :)
p.s. I just noticed I have the option to buy the body along with the 18-135mm kit lens as well. Help! I don't know where to start
