I can't account for your ability to afford what you can, but I Found the following four lenses to do everything I NORMALLY want to do:
16-50mm/2.8
50-135mm/2.8
100mm/2.8
200mm/2.8
That being said, I have used Pentax forever, so I have a nice eclectic selection of primes and telephoto lenses to use; i.e. 50mm/1.4 all the way up to 500mm/4.5.
The four I've listed are pricey (to say the least) but I know that 5 years from now I'll still be using them (barring any repairs).
Any substitutions from third party manufacturers are also viable, just read up on as many reviews as you can before you buy.
Ain't it great we have IS built into the camera tho?
