I send mine out a few weeks ago. Turn around on the repair was pretty quick and so far so good. Although I haven't taken a lot of shots since getting it back but it seems to be working fine now.

I sent my camera in to pentaxcamearepair a few weeks back.... so far... so good. Turn around time on the repair was pretty quick and even though I haven't had a lot of time (or motivation) to get out and use my camera, it seems to be working just fine now. One of my recent shots I've taken with the camera since having it fixed....

Oops.... yeah sudden stops like that with cameras don't mix well. But its good to hear that the other issue was taken care of. Maybe next week I'll contact him and get mine sent in. I have watched the videos of how to fix it but... yeah, would rather let someone take it apart that actually knows what they are doing. Sure right now its a paper weight anyway but if I attempted it it could end up being a permanent paper weight. For $100 and change its worth it to me.

So he was able to repair it? Still haven't done anything with mine. Wildflower season in the desert is coming up and we've had a lot of rain so it should be a spectacular season. I still have my ist D that works but would like to have my K50 up and running again.

My K50 thats two and a half years old started having this problem off an on a while back. Now... its pretty much constant. Shot about 40 pics yesterday and all but maybe 6 of them didn't come out. I found this place online also but was hesitant to send my camera to them since I had never heard of them before. Financially I can NOT buy a new camera right now so repair is my only option. Has anyone actually used their service for aperture block of their cameras?

I've been trying for a while to get a "good" shot of the hummingbirds that come to my feeder. While I'm not overly happy with the background on this, (it was the best angle I could get at the time) its the best shot I've gotten of the little buggers so far.

I grew up there.... moved when I was 18 and got married. Living there I never really thought much about the winters. I guess since I grew up in them the 30 below temps were just a part of life. LOL! After 35+ years living in the So Cal desert I'm not sure I could handle the winters there anymore, but then again if I hit the lottery that will be the first place I will move back to. Of course my daughter and her family living there now is a deciding factor too. They don't mind the cold, they even manage to deal when the water freezes and they have to go out to the pump house and haul in water.... then again they are younger (than me).

My daughter is in Salmon and you do see horses out and about... once I think a friend of mine there took a pic of one tied up outside of a bar! LOL! At least they weren't drinking and driving!

Spring is trying to spring here....

Not my best but considering I used my Sigma 70-300mm lens, was several feet away from them had to use manual focus and cropped the daylights out of the shots... I like to think they are fairly acceptable. Darn critters won't follow direction and stay still! :p

Protecting you K-50 investment: warranties, screen protectors, etc.

I was thinking about getting a screen cover for my K50, but haven't done so yet. My camera is usually in the bag unless I'm using it, but I have noticed some light wear on the screen already. Might go ahead and invest in the cover since they aren't expensive.

Has for the strap... I think that is a personal preference. Personally I HATE neck straps. First thing I did with my ist D was take off the wide next strap and custom make a smaller, narrower, lighter one. When I got the K50 I went with a Blackrapid Curve. Not a neck strap but still will keep the camera handy and ready to use without having to hold onto it while walking around. There is another similar brand that I saw crowd sourced a while back but don't remember the name of it.

Thank you! I had a lot of fun out with the clouds since we don't get clouds in the desert that often.

And the kit lens that comes with the camera is actually very good. I almost think I get clearer shots with it than with the Tamron or Sigma lenses I have.

Between work and life I hadn't had much time for photography. Took a "mental health" day off from work and went out with my camera for the afternoon last week. :D

I think I had my kit lens on when I took this. Not to bad for a kit lens.

Life in the 21st Century - too bad it has to be this way.

Back in the mid 60's, I was growing up in a small...and I mean small... population about 300...town in Idaho. My parents owned a farm equipment place at that time, and the only thing I remember them telling me has I wandered around either alone or with friends was to stay away from the train tracks.

When I was around 6-8 years old, we has a guy that worked for my parents. I don't remember his name... I think I called him Mr. Mudd because I couldn't pronounce his real name correctly. He called me Woody because at that time I loved Woody Woodpecker and could do the Woody laugh pretty good. Anyway, I remember going to his house to visit and harass him. I remember he lived in a small little place, and I would go inside and.....

Nothing happened. He probably gave me a soda and some candy and called my mom or dad in case they were looking for me, but I didn't worry about going to see him and I don't think my parents did either.

Of course I also recall a time in the same time frame I was walking home from school I think, and happened to be alone and not with the 2 or 3 others I usually walked with, and a car pulled up beside me on the sidewalk and asked me if I would show them were something was or something for some candy. Thank heavens for living in such a small town.... who ever it was that lived in the house I was standing in front of apparently saw what was happening and knew that the car was not one that belonged to anyone in town (and I'm sure knew who I was) and came flying out of their house and sent them on their way....

So things did happen back in the day... but I think we had more trust. Or maybe it was just being in such a small community were everyone did know everyone else and knew who could and could not be trusted.

Seriously, I'm just glad I'm not raising kids right now, and I don't envy my daughter and what she will face raising my new grandson.

Great captures considering that birds will usually take off if you take the time to stop to try to get pictures of them...at least thats always been my experience! Beautiful creatures!
