43 ltd for landscape? Or other options...

In my case l haven't tried it. I have however read film era reviews that indicated exactly the same type of difference between the lenses. The fa35 was shown to be sharper across the frame wide open than the 31. The 31 had higher center sharpness.

Yes. For non-stitched I would use either one.

K1 setting for landscape and hyperfocal

I use one of two methods:

1) Main priority object or visual hook in the scene, even landscapes should have one and stop down but not far enough to reach visible diffraction effects
2) Focus stack and take as many exposures as there are objects at different distance from camera which must be sharp

Or, If I have camera movements available, I will always use them first should the scene allow it.

Example:

2 image focus stack with 12mm fisheye. One exposure at MFD, one at ~infinity.

Pentax K-1 Mark II Early Reviews?

Maybe there will be no surprises, but Pentax's pre-release claims can not always be believed.

For example - I remember before the K1 came out that Pentax claimed that the new K1 would be equipped with a new version of pixel shift that would allow one to photograph moving subjects. Before buying my K1, I had a K3ii and could rarely use pixel shift on the K3ii because most of the stuff I shoot moves slightly. So I purchased my K1 right went it came out believing their claim that I could shoot moving subjects with the K1 in the Pixel Shift mode. Well, we K1 owners soon found out how full of baloney Pentax's claim about shooting moving subjects with pixel shift mode on the K1 was.

I do not believe Pentax's pre-release claim that the K1ii will be able to shoot pixel shift "hand held". Based on their prior exaggerated claim about being able to shoot moving subjects in the pixel shift mode, I'm very skeptical about blindly believing their latest pre-release claim about shooting PS hand held with the K1ii. If some of the early adopters and reviewers can prove that hand held PS on the K1ii works without a hitch, then I'll buy one. But I'm not going to again make a purchase based on any pre-release claims from Pentax. Fool me once shame on me; fool me twice......

The DA* 16-50 f/2.8.

My copy was so soft at 2.8 it was, in truth, just a heavy, waterproof and overpriced f/4 lens. AF was too slow on the K3 although, I concede, it was quiet.

It was a huge disappointment after the cheap and cheerful £200 Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 that I'd been using beforehand. I never actually trusted the 16-50 either to be sharp or to focus fast enough when the pressure was on. So it went out of the bag and onto the shelf...

And let's not even start on the slow-to-wake-up AF (which I later discovered to be a sign of the impending SDM motor failure).

Happily, the 24-70 f/2.8 is also an absolutely lovely lens on the K1 so Pentax (Tamron!) seem to have stepped up their game here.

FF Teleconverter for K-1

Wow, that's courage!

Interestingly, I have found myself carrying the K-1 with Sigma 500 and 1.4x TC, right alongside the K-3 with 150-450 and Pentax HD 1.4x RC. In these combinations, the K-3 has better reach, but lacks focus tracking, AF speed and ultimately flexibility in framing the shot compared to the K-1 combination. Of the bird shots I have taken recently, I found that, on a number of occasions, the cropped shot on the K-1 was bigger than 24Mp so I actually got more out of the K-1 than I had expected from worrying about the crop factor. Oooh, and the other thing is that ISO500-640 is sort of the sweet spot on the K-3 for bird photography, but on the K-1 it is 1000-1250 and that is a huge step up for birds in flight.

Isn't the K-3 the ideal 1.5x teleconverter for the K-1?

Just got off the phone with Precision Camera. The person on the other end said that due to the "impact damage" it was going to be 463 dollars. NOPE! That's a big giant steaming load of crap. There was no impact damage. From day one there was flex in the tripod foot on it and the only fall it had was when I put it on a tripod just to have the lens come off and fall into a camp chair and the foot stay on the tripod due to some type of metal fatigue, which explained the bit of flex. She said she is going to explain what I told her on the call and get back with me either tomorrow or Wednesday.

I had already paid 53 dollars to ship this insured to them. I already bought the lens new. There is no way in hell I plan on paying more because of a defect in materials on the tripod foot. Depending on how this goes I will contact Ricoh and if this is not resolved to my satisfaction I will not be able to recommend Pentax to anyone based on their warranty practices. A DFA 150-450 is supposed to be a premium lens and therefore a tripod foot should not break on it at all, yet it did, and there is no impact damage on this lens at all.

I think you may be reading too much into my post.
My post was a simple statement of fact rather like reading the contents of a can of beans - make what you want of it.
BTW the last pic was at f/4.

This is appropriate and follows the concept that absolute recording accuracy is not necessarily the intended goal.
