My choice would be the Pentax 16-85!

The Sigma 17-50 is quite underated as well. I have one and i like it a lot.

Are you using Face Detect in Live View? The live view face detect uses multiple focus points and an algorithm, so it may not always focus on the eyes.

Did you try setting a specific focus point? If you select a specific focus point and put it right on the eyes the camera should work perfectly.

Every night, before bed, put your camera battery in its charger. This is especially important when you're travelling.

Where does the camera store the "latest" file number?

Most likely the info is stored in a non-volatile form of memory called eeprom aka e2prom. A similar type of semiconductor technology is used in solid state hard drives. Data is kept without power to the device.

If you want to have more in focus, use a smaller aperture like f11 or f16. A smaller aperture will also reduce your vignetting. Also, the longer your focal length is, the shorter your depth of field will be, so maybe try standing closer and use 50mm or 35mm. Not sure why you used -1 exposure compensation, you have a lot of shutter speed to play with, you could easily go down to 1/500 and still freeze motion from wind. Online Depth of Field Calculator

I like the feel of the picture. Since you want some feedback i will be extremely picky as a favour to you lol.

I like the amount your background is blurred.

The light seems good. What did you use for a light modifier? You could try a larger softbox to soften the light a tad. Just looking at her nose...

You might try to reduce the shadows on her face from her hair. One little shadow by her mouth could be fixed by having that little tuft of hair pulled back.

The shadow over her left eye - maybe try a mild fill flash straight on pointed at her face, or pull her hair back just a tad on the left. Something to play with.

Also the post to the left is a bit distracting to me...

Nice colours and contrast.

Beautiful girl, her skin looks very smooth.
