Tamron 28-75f/2.8 issue with K1

None that I can see. A couple of screw placements differences. I just tried it again, if I take my time when mounting it and keep it at 75mm, it seemed a little bit easier to get off, but that kind of defeats the purpose of being able to change lenses quickly.

Thanks, I was thinking something along the same line but wanted to check if there was a known issue. I purchased this last year from KEH, other than the stubborn mount, the lens is great.

Tamron 28-75f/2.8 issue with K1

Hi, I have a K1 and Tamron lenses 17-35, 28-75, & 70-200. I am having an issue with the 28-75 removing it from the camera. It takes several tries of depressing the release button before the lens is able to be unmounted. I do not have this problem with the other Tamron lenses, nor my crop sensor lenses. Any insights would be appreciated.

Thanks to both of you. I will contact Adorama and/or CRIS when I got back to Phx. Other than the aperture issue, I really like the lens.

I haven't contacted CRIS yet as I am on vacation and won't be back in Phx until Sat at the earliest. To the best of my knowledge, CRIS is an authorized service center for not only Pentax but also Sigma. As for warranty issues, the lens was purchased 6 weeks ago and has seen very little use (one day this week, and maybe once before that). At first I thought I had inadvertently changed the EV on the camera, using the lens during this week, I am 99% certain that the problem is the lens and not user error. I was hoping someone here might have had a similar issue or would be able to advise me. Again, many thanks for the responses.

When the lens is off the camera, the aperture is closed; when I move the aperture lever it opens wide but remains in that position momentarily then slowly closes. Also, I purchased the lens approximately 6wks ago during ImagingUSA in Phx through Adorama, so I don't know if they will do an exchange. On the plus side, it is obviously under warranty and CRIS isn't terribly far for me to drive. Thanks for the replies.

I recently purchased the 10-20/3.5. I haven't had a chance to really work the lens until this week while on vacation. I am noticing that it is over-exposing. Has anyone here had any problems with their lens doing the same? I used the lens almost all day yesterday, and it almost appears that the aperture is either somehow reversed where 3.5 is the smallest and as you move through the stops, the aperture opens wider, or the blades are stuck. I am confused, none of my other lenses have this type of problem and all meter perfectly on my K5IIs.

As far as I know, there is no way to adjust the brightness level of the viewfinder readout. I can sympathize with not being able to see the level indicator in very bright conditions, as I have a tendency to tilt the camera inadvertently. Pentax does offer a focusing screen that is basically a "rule of thirds" grid (model # ML-60) which I have purchased and installed in my iis that is helpful for me, not only with keeping the camera straight but also with composition.

Success!!!! My 16-50 is now auto-focusing!!! I could never figure out how to save the original file, though. The lens is working and in my book that's a very good thing.

All right, I purchased a K100D from the marketplace (thank you MightMike). I am just now (had to work all week and OT yesterday) trying to access the lens eeprom in the debug menu. I have managed thus for to get into the debug menu, then by pressing menu again gain access to "lens eeprom r/w". From there I am a bit confused. Do I scroll down to read, press okay or do I press store first, and finally, how in the world do I save the info? Last, once I manage to save the info, how do I edit it in the camera? I know which lines to edit as I have saved a couple of the files that other users have graciously posted for reference. I'm sorry for being an idiot, but I'm more lost than I thought I would be. Any and all help would be more than greatly appreciated.

CRIS, highly recommended by most of my photography friends. Just do a Google search for the address. I think it is somewhere around Ray Rd, closer to Awhatukee.

Thanks so much for the info, hopefully when I get the camera I'll be able to figure this out. I'm looking forward to being able to use AF again.. I have subscribed to this thread so I can easily find it and the valuable info here. Thanks again.

Randy,
You did the hack with a K100D, not the K100 Super, correct? There's a K100D in the marketplace that I am thinking of snapping up if it can indeed be used to perform this hack.
Thanks,
Sylvia

Hopefully this is the beginning of the annual monsoons here in AZ. A small lightning display in the far southeast valley of the Phoenix metro area. I managed to get over to Gilbert's Riparian Preserve to try my hand at capturing a lightning strike. This is probably the best shot I got. I changed the WB and applied a little bit of NR in Lightroom. This was taken with a K-5iis at ISO 2500, f/9, for 63s.

Thank you very much for the offer, John. I do have a couple of other lenses, one being the DFA100 macro that I can use, but I most certainly will keep the offer in mind. It is very generous of you.

Thanks for the reply John, and yes I have been manually focusing the lens. As primarily a landscape shooter, this isn't really a big deal, it would just be nice to have the lens auto focus properly. I will either send it back or buy a used K10D body and attempt the deactivation myself.

Hi Everyone,
I'm Sylvia a fairly recent Pentax user, having purchased a K-5iis and 16-50/2.8 lens in Feb. I purchased the lens from KEH via Amazon Marketplace. It has become pretty obvious that the lens' SDM motor is spotty having getting it to AF only a few times. I've taken a few trips since acquiring the lens/camera so I haven't really had the time to send it back to KEH. What I would like to know is,
1) is there anyone in the Phoenix area who has managed to deactivate the SDM motor using the method described in the following thread
(https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/208353-how-dea...m-f-2-8-a.html) and
2) if so, would any of you be willing to do so with my lens? I would be more than willing to meet at a public location (mall, restaurant, etc) and pay for your time.
I have a month before returning the lens is not an option, and I really don't want to be without a normal lens, but will bite the bullet if need be.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.
Sylvia

I'm still learning this wonderful camera (K5IIs), but I am more and more impressed with it every time I use it.
