DA 35mm f2.4 Reverse Macro?

I ordered the ring today, it really seems to be the right one.
The aperture is smallest when you take the lens off of the camera but on the end there's a visible plastic piece that you can pull down to open the aperture, it's fairly easy to hold it down with a finger mainly when I won't have to hold the lens to the camera anymore :)

DA 35mm f2.4 Reverse Macro?

Hello again Pentaxians.
I got my 35mm 2.4 a few weeks ago and totally love it, I've tried using it reversed on camera (holding it to the body in video mode) and I was surprised with how nice the macro capability is when lens is reversed.
I wanted to ask though, would such reverse ring like this one work or does it require some other reverse ring? Thanks for your advice, and definitely try the reverse lens trick with the 35mm, it's awesome!

Lens or Flash?

I think I will go for the lens. I would love to have a flash to try portrait shots, to be able to get better photos inside and to be able to experiment with something that's totally new to me. BUT I am just tired of the kit lens, and I do not really enjoy shooting with it and feel like the prime lens will push me in the right direction to make me enjoy photography more and it will also perform much better than both of the lenses I own which is of course the main argument imho. I just wanted to ask to make sure that I am not making a wrong decision by missing out on the flash ;)

Lens or Flash?

Hello fellow Pentaxians.
I have saved up some money and it's time to decide for me.
I can get the Metz 58 AF-1 for 200$ secondhand or go for a brand new DA 35mm 2.4,
Currently I have the K-5, 18-55 kit lens and F 80-200mm f4.7-5.6

I am really not sure if I want the flash for indoors photos and maybe I could use it to photograph skating events which occur very often here, on the other hand the 35mm would be my first prime lens since I switched to Pentax and I think it would be quite a nice addition to the lenses I already own with it's f/2.4 aperture.

Any help and other ideas welcome. Thanks!

Kit Lens Replacement

Hello guys, I am new to the forums so first of all you might want to send me to some topics where I could get some good info on kit lens replacements.

But to get to the case... currently I own the 18-55mm first version and I am not very happy with it. I mean, it gets good results on mid distance and stopped down but it isn't fast enough for my needs. The second lens which I own is F 80-200mm F4.7-5.6, it's not sharp at all but works as my telephoto. So I am looking for a lens at the wider end (35mm and below).

The first lens that I am most interested in is DA 35mm 2.4, albeit plastic, it seems to be producing very amazing pictures(judging by reviews) and is much faster than the kit lens. Plus it's a prime lens, which I love working with... Before my K-5 I had an MFT camera with the Lumix G 20mm 1.7 and it was so fun to shoot with it, so I am looking for a lens that I will enjoy shooting in most situations.

The next option would be waiting longer (up to 3 months) and getting the Tamron 17-50mm 2.8, I am just not very sure if that is what I want and I've read people are having problems with FF/BF with this lens. Also I would have to get a second hand lens as I can't afford to pay $500 for a new one (I am a student).

The last option would be a brand new Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM. While retaining the ability to zoom I would get a faster wide end (2.8).

Let me know what you think, and let me know which other lenses I should consider, I would really appreciate it!

Camparing the k5 vs the k01 slow motion

The K-5 obviously can't do slow motion well with only 30fps at 720p. Although from the video, it proves it has much wider dynamic range.

I don't know, seems like you compressed it way too much - blocks and artifacts

Hi guys,
I finally decided to register here, because I found the forums very useful, mainly in helping me decide whether to buy a lens or not.
Currently I have got a K-5 with 18-55, bought Jan 2013, second hand. Has nearly 20K shutter count, 2K being from me.
I love shooting street photography, but overally I just love using the camera. In a few days I should receive a second lens, SMC F 80-200 F4.7-5.6.
I hope I will be able to share some interesting thoughts and posts with you and keep looking forward to meeting all of Pentax lovers :)
