I'm regretting the 3rd party grip I'm currently using with my K5. The battery door plastic lever has broken off after only a few months of use and the on/off mechanism is very poorly made by comparison to the one on the camera and Pentax grip versions.
I used the Pentax grip with my K10D and K20D and it is far superior. Unfortunately for me, the backup battery/SD storage/vertical grip features while useful, aren't worth the extra $$ to shell out at this time :-/

Agreed... While both formats are identical in form factor and mechanics, SDXC uses a different file system, which is Microsoft's exFAT and is limited in backwards compatibility such as transfer rates.

Looking forward to checking it out. Adam, if you are involved in curating the development of that site, I'm sure it will enjoy the same success we've seen here with PF.

Sounds like Ricoh is making out to be a great custodian of the Pentax brand by taking in feedback from their devoted userbase. I have had this inclination early on. I'm one of the few that WILL gladly pony up the cash for this beast... can't wait!

I don't see the sky falling just yet, imagine this... (as crazy as this sounds to most)
New deep pockets bring us a full-frame EVIL K-mount weather-sealed magnesium-alloy badass tank with amazing AF and 10fps.
Wouldn't that turn the camera world on it's head... to "be interesting" with a bit of Ricoh's "unnecessary" flavor.
Is this likely to happen? Probably not, but doesn't it sound like the innovative Pentax we love? :-)

Agreed... they need to be able to attract the canikon FF userbase (prestige) to make the switch. In a down economic climate, even the NFL photogs might give Pentax a second thought if they can get quality gear for half the price with the 400mm... as long as they don't care about FPS ;-)

Well Stooley, it's a small world. I like yourself, ordered from Willoughby's via Amazon on Feb 16th and ended up with your Serial #9025929 and I immediately knew that it had been repackaged. For Sh*ts and giggles, I decided to try a few test shots and of course, very poor results.
A quick call to Willoughby's and mentioning this Lens DB thread, the rep denied all plausibility that they'd do such a thing as repackage a return and sell it as new (as it states "factory fresh" on the invoice). After realizing his err, he then was quick to pay for UPS to pick it up and happy to 2nd day Air a new one with a promise of throwing in a free filter for my troubles.
Long story short, no filter with the replacement Lens but so far this replacement copy (#9025332) is a gem!
After another call to them, the filter is supposedly on it's way... crossing fingers :-/

This is outstanding, I feel like I've been Rick Roll'd. Well Done.
I am however extremely happy to know that I'll soon be able to use the Takumar 50mm 1.4 that I had written off as toast a couple of years ago!
Thx everybody!

First post... I have had outstanding luck with Transcend in general, with several 2GB fast and reliable 150x speed performance. I've also been using a class 6 8GB SDHC for almost a year with 0 issues. Amazon and Newegg have a great deal on them right now at about ~$35.
