Just returned my 4 week old Q for same reason as Waderography - Damn dust under the sensor cover filter !
I've not been able to use the Q much due to recent neuro surgery on both arms.
But yesterday I took the Q out of it's fitted Pentax neoprene case and found a couple of spots of dust between the LCD & LCD cover glass, one spot was really annoying me. So I decided to take a closer look elsewhere using a x8 loupe - Really wish I hadn't !
OMG under the sensor cover filter are roughly 30 to 40 microscopic spots of crud / contamination - ALL of them UNDER the filter, invisible to the naked eye; but very noticeable when using a loupe!!!
Needless to say I was less than impressed, especially considering it's new, never used in a dusty environment & never had it's lens off since I purchased it until yesterday (mainly because I only have one lens).
Okay none of the dust spots aren't showing up on the images, but that's not the point - I now know of their existence & that's the worst part, it's going to bug me - Especially my Q's only 4 weeks old, I don't expect to find any contamination inside the body let alone near the sensor, regardless of size!
So off the Pentax Service the camera has gone ( could take as long as 4 to 6 weeks I was told by my dealer, that was another blow).
Which begs the question: Are you brave enough to look closely at your Q ?
I'm gutted to say the least !

Hi All,
I've just purchased the genuine Pentax Multi-Bag for Q Compact System Camera - Grey (Pentax Part No: 50263).
Nice & small in keeping with the whole Q ethos, easily stores a couple of Q system lenses & body (I reckon it'll be able to carry two bodies at a push) - It's available in either grey or white, I got mine from Bristol Camera's for £19.99 and I have to say it's very good.
As a rough guide internally it's approx L 6" x H 5" x D 4" It's got two open pockets between the main body on the sides, where the straps are attached & plenty of internal dividers. Pentax Multi-Bag for Q Compact System Camera - Grey: Amazon.co.uk: Camera & Photo

There's one currently listed on Fleabay UK, Auction No: 200895359980 being sold by SRS Microsystems. I've purchased from SRS in the past & can confirm that they are reliable, SRS seem to be listing a lot of Q stuff really cheaply at the moment. Q bodies from £99 with two year warranty for example !

Hi,
I always hate these 'Introduce Yourself' threads, how do you introduce yourself?
I'll be brief & concise, I'm a tech savvy cripple who is housebound; thanks to a past-life of riding large motorcycles & hitting solid objects at high speeds. As a result my life is now spent over-medicated, inside & in chronic 24/7 pain, which isn't fun!
Other than this, my interests are mainly moaning about how dire the British Weather has become lately, my health issues and lack of photographic trips.
I recently purchased a Pentax Q on account that I find it difficult & painful lug around a full dSLR system. I was looking for another GRD, but somehow stumbled across the Pentax Q.
After reading Steve Huff's 'A pocket full of Pixels' I knew I had to have one. The Pentax Q Digital Camera Review – A pocket full of pixels! | STEVE HUFF PHOTOS
Anyway that's all to know about me.
Cheers
