I never understood why so many cameras share a button for AE-L and AF, a button for each would solve the problem that you now seem to be facing. I believe the K-3 and other top of the range cameras have this setup.

Im sure someone else will come along in a bit and give you a detailed answer but off the top of my head I think old glass has to be in M mode otherwise it will shoot everything fully wide open no matter what you try to set the aperture to.

Nothing to do with lighting but I think 2 things that are important with real esate interior stuff is using a wide angle lens with it as far back into one of the corners of the room as possible in order to make the room look as big as possible and removing as much clutter from the room as possible which will also make the room look bigger.

Is it possible someone could take a shot at ISO 1600 with the camera set to 14MP and then take a shot at 24MP and resize it to 14MP and upload them so we can compare noise levels?

I was just wondering if there is an option on the K-3 to take shots at lower megapixels like there is on the K-30 and no doubt alot of other cameras.
Also if you did take a high ISO shot at eg. 16 megapixels would it contain less noise than the 24 megapixel shot or is that not how the technology would work.

I really like this, has a great film era feel to it. Only one possibly thing id say is that because the cats face is so dark you lose possible detail in that area on my monitor atleast.

The colour shot is my favourite, nice composition, colour, dof, exposure etc but I dont quite get the photo!
One girl is getting some sunshine which is grand but I dont understand the expression on the other girls face or what the bucket and small metal bath are there to represent.

Heres what I took it from, I wasnt a big fan of the fact he tended to blend in so well with the surroundings myself so I tried to slowly move over to the other side of him to get a shot cutting out the background rocks but alas he had had enough and jumped into the sea. This shot and another similar one of him turned around are the 2 best I got from the day. Something closer than 210mm would have been a help as well I guess.
Ill upload the RAW file in a bit and hopefully some of you guys can offer some alternative takes on what you would do with it.

Nice shot, I find the out of focus leaves at the top left distracting though so id probably give them the axe if possible. Little bit curious what the original colour version looks like..

hmm not sure about this one, perhaps if they were both sat tight beside each other it would portray 'the lovers' better. As it is im really not loving the composition, the birds dont seem very sharp either.

Just today I noticed that I have been shooting everything in sRGB on my K-30 so i switched it over to Adobe RGB with the understanding that its a wider (and generally better) color palette. My question is how can i tell what colour profile a shot was taken in, when i tried to open up one of the shots from today in camera raw and then open afterwards in photoshop it popped up a warning saying the file was in adobe RGB while my photoshop desktop was set for sRGB i switched photoshop over so this was ok but when looking at the "file info" in photoshop or just in windows explorer I can see no mention of the color space that the photo was taken in. where is this information kept and what program should i use to check it?

I only recently started shooting in raw+ on my k30 but today ive been looking at the raw files and the jpg files afterwards, according to photoshop cs6 the raw files only have 240 pixels per inch while the jpgs have 300. Could anyone tell me why this is?

ok this is roughly done, really would need to spend about 3 times as long on this to make it look next to perfect but it should give you the idea:
only tools used are the patch tool and healing tool in photoshop.

Never use a laptop screen for colour checking!

looks like a nice car, the first two shots I like the most.
As for improvement, there seems to be alot of horizontal lines in the first 2 shots but most are running off. Id be tempted to clone out the white piping and the metal line running above it along with the billboard and that vertical post right above the car and then straighten the hedge so that its running completely horizontal. Those trees might get the axe as well especially the ones in the middle of the shot as they are a bit distracting and take away from the car (perhaps if the background wasnt so much in focus this wouldnt have been the case.)
In the last 2 shots I'd try to bring out some of the detail in that dark background using your software of choice to improve the shot.

Thought I would have a go at this, as most of the bread and butter bases have all been kinda covered i tried something a bit more different.
Did all the standard adobe camera raw stuff, upping the saturation and vibrance on the eagle, toning down the shadows etc. Then converted everything to B&W bar the eagle, added a slight blur to the man, cloned out the trees at the bottom and then added a grain filter for take 1 and a cutout filter for take 2.

I dont think it could have been left out due to concerns over noise pollution as every damn video i make on my K-30 has the sound of writing to the memory card attached to it. Is there anyone per chance that dosnt experience this? perhaps a different type of memory card would be quieter?

Yea, not having the ability to manipulate the photo somewhat always puts you at a disadvantage. A simple but very effective thing you can do is type the name of the thing you are shooting into bing or google image search and study the best shots that come up and compare yours to them to see ways that you can improve. I searched for 'wagon wheel' just now but turns out most of what comes up are just P&S type shots but some stood out more than others:
Even this 2nd image looks a little busy all over for me, but i love the first one.

Agree with what everyone said so far. When i first looked at the original shot i thought the image quality looked a tad low, though with the 2nd shot it seems really bad. Did you use alot of compression to lower the file sizes? perhaps its wherever the files are hosted is the problem.

Interesting shots for sure, The colouring does look a bit off in the original first shot, but i agree with the original poster that wildman's redo looks a bit cold/blue in places.
I like the OPs 2nd take the most out of all the shots but i think its still lacking a certain something too, perhaps a little of the vibrancy of the original was lost?

Ok lets see..
As for the first shot, a (water?) jar perhaps isnt the most interesting thing in the world but thats not to say you can have it featuring in a nice shot. I think the main problem here is that you are so zoomed in that the only thing that you can see in the frame is the jar and the wooden post and both those things arnt quite interesting enough to make it a great shot on their own. Perhaps a wider angle including more of the background could have helped here. (easy for me to say as i wasnt there and have no idea what was around though)
The 2nd shot i think has more potential, however i think the tree that the wagon wheel is leaning against looks very cluttered and messy (especially at the top) and as such attracts attention away from the wheel too much. There may be some things you could do in PP to lessen this effect but it would probably only take the shot so far. Most people on here will hate what im about to suggest but i wonder what it would look like if most of the shot was B&W and the wagon wheel was for example: Sepia.
