I can't really shoot RAW most of the time as I'm event shooting dance routines - the burst modes / buffers and SD cards can't keep up with the pace I need to write the photos at. Not to mention the size of the output (3500+ photos X RAW = need more HDDs!!)
I'm not 100% happy with the out of camera JPEGs from my latest event, so I'm going to try fiddling with them soon. The difficulty being I can't do this on the fly (the routines only last three minutes) so it will be a bit of guesswork at first. I'm planning to use the recent review information from DPReview as a start for the right settings to alter, and go from there.
That having been said, I'm not displeased with the OOC JPGs per sae, I just think they could be better.

The biggest problem I have with PTTL is not knowing when the flash has fired full power and yet thats still not been enough light.
I'm also still experiencing that I get better photos with my K-01 + Metz 58AF1 than my K-3 - puncher images, better contrast, better exposure - no idea what is up with that. K-3 is much better than the K-30 which was unusable virtually.
This is for indoor event shooting, ballrooms, white ceiling, approx 10-15ft away.

Not having an issue with AF-Beam, but wireless flash doesn't appear to be working currently. Reverted to using them in Servo mode, or with radio triggers, which to be honest I find more reliable anyway.

There is a separate setting for movie and jpg locations - don't know if you've spotted that.

Personally I prefer the k3; I'm always accidentally recording video on the k01

Initial results with my DA* 50-135mm are showing very good results - really letting that lens sing!
Regards to AF with it, I can't comment as to whether the speed has increased (difficult to tell), but it is far far more certain about things, hits focus, bang on, every time. With real confidence.

This was the conclusion I came too - FF is much more affordable but it doesn't mean I can afford it.
Loving my K3 right now

I'd probably pickup a f1.4 prime personally

Not tried a parabolic yet but it's on the list.
I have a brollybox but so far I've not been convinced with my speed lights. Get better results with my small soft box. Although I've lost the mount at the moment unfortunately which creates issues!

Held the AF button, it focuses the camera. In video mode it's been tuned to not be as abrupt at changing focus, more like a camcorder.
Really though I don't use AF during shooting for the video I'm shooting on an SLR. I'd buy a camcorder instead

At this rate I wonder of the Pentax will be available before the Sigma! Seems quite vapourware at the moment in K mount

Interesting they've removed the sync and AC. I wonder if that means they will be bringing in a new top level flash.
Don't understand their pricing structure though.

ISO6400 @f2.5 1/30th second with a Sigma 30mm f1.4
Pretty happy for two reason - one, in a jam, that photo would likely keep a client happy for social media use (and it has good colours) two, the AF was bang on.

I agree! Was a real hope of mine. I've also tried prompting the problems at home (small hallway shooting into a mirror) and it seemed fine then also!

It looks to me like they have optimised the SF during video to minimize the noise and disruption to picture.
I must admit I'm really not getting why everyone is so fussed about AF during video, for commercial uses etc it's not really needed IMO.
Audio metering etc during record seems to work well. Need to try the audio pass through to headphones properly tomorrow

Tested tonight at a very under-lit dance event. AF is significantly improved, tracks properly, and bounce flash appears to be working right.

Tested this tonight - bounce flash in a dance studio full of mirrors.
Based on this initial testing I'd say the problems are fixed; photos appear correctly exposed, and can easily be controlled via flash exp comp.
Very happy personally, as it was a big pain before!
