Beautiful. It's photos like yours which motivated to purchase the GRD4 in the first place.

Yes bro! Nikon copied Ricoh and now Ricoh shows them how its done!
Personally., I like the fact that this camera is on what - its 8th iteration or something close to that. A refinement. An evolution.
Check out the GR special site: GR | PENTAX RICOH IMAGING
Read how they themselves describe the camera. There is depth and soul behind the GR. And a main selling point is that the features are the result of years of user feedback, and that this will continue with firmware updates adding more functionality. I bet they already have some planned.
I also love their little attentions to things - like protecting the LCD so I don't have to buy the ACMAXX protector. That also the result of feedback. And the fact that I can use my GV-2 viewfinder from my GRD4...

I hope so, but in reality I will purchase this camera. I really enjoy my K01, but just haven't been as productive with it as I am with the GRD4. The introduction of the GR will probably make this my wide-angle camera, and the K01 for more telephoto.

I don't know and to be honest I'm concerned about that as well. Hopefully high ISo is so good we won't have to worry too much about it.

It's ok.
I've never seen so much attention on ricoh before. As with me, those really interested in the GR will uncover the heritage and realize that the GR is simply one of the best cameras.

If you look at the history of the Ricoh GR line, including the recent digital GRD series, you'll realize that the Coolpix A is actually a clone of the GR.

Still use mine as much as the K01. I love the focal length. Was hoping GR5 would have 28mm equivalent FOV.

You choose to focus on the most insignificant fact - a simple evolution in processor.
But the entire concept of the camera, apart from the sensor, is GRD.
All Ricoh had to do was put a larger sensor into a GRD.
Nikon had to conceptualize and create a whole new type of camera that is like...a GRD.

Nothing about the GRD is exciting o paper, but in the hands its another story. Pick up a GRD3 or GRD4 once they're cheap and you will see what I mean.

Actually, the Coolpix A is a copy of the Ricoh GRD.
Check the facts.

Focus peaking is also a great way to set the zone focus with deep DoF for street shooting situations when a lens (like the 40mmXS) lacks a hyperfocal distance scale.

After spending the last four days shooting around Los Angeles, I'm even more sure of the 21. Even though I loved the IQ of the k01 with the 40xs, I just couldn't get used the fov.
Went back to using the grd4 and the 28mm fov simply works. Sometimes I want a little bit tighter, sometimes wider, but the 40xs is just to much. I'll continue using it for portraits. But otherwise, I can't use it a my general lens.
On the plus side, I figured out a quick way to dial in zone focus using focus peaking.

The translation was very interesting.
I really love design.
What guts me is the obvious special limited pancake lens for the K01 that never and will probably never be released.
Looks like the with these kind of special lenses, the K01 would have indeed been a small system.
I wonder what would have happened if Pentax released a mirrorless lens roadmap with the K01.

Thanks for the replies everybody.
I'm coming from the GRD4 which is 28mm, so that is the only focal length that I've been using.
As far as focus peaking and AF: for street photography I love the snap focus feature on the GRD4 so I need lenses with zonefocusing abilities.
I like versatility and the 28mm, so I will go with the DA21ltd first.
Still getting the hang of the K01, probably having to do with getting used to the DA40XS. I'm used to the wider angle.
And of course, I need to improve my skills!
Here is a link to the my flickr stream where you can see some of my first published pictures taken with the K01 and others taken with the GRD4. Flickr: perptual3's Photostream |

Going to Hawaii in April and then Europe in May.
I am trying to decide between either of these two lenses, and having a hard time deciding.
I'm coming from the RICOH GRD4 so I'm thinking that the DA21LTD might be more akin to the FOV that I'm used to, but I really have no idea and no way to test the lenses.
Am I correct in that they both allow for hyperfocal / zone focus manual focusing?
Help!

That's a misleading statement because it implies that the OMD IQ is better than K01 when it is not. The OMD represents the best that m43s can do - rising to the level of the APSC as found in the K01.
