K3 - Sharp focus on the eye

thanks for that, that is what I was after. But is there a way to leave it at that zoom to refocus?

---------- Post added 07-17-15 at 02:30 PM ----------

I am using centre weighted.
I am using a tripod.
The f-stop was 4.5
shutter speed was 1.6
I think some of these may be the problem.
How do I know if my lens front or back focuses? And what exactly does that mean?
Thanks for your help with this.

K3 - Sharp focus on the eye

Can you zoom right in to make sure the eye is in sharp focus before you take a shot on the K3? I am sure I read how to do this a while ago, but I can't find it now.
In live view, I want to zoom in and check that the eye is pin sharp. I am shooting with a Sigma 17-70 lens and the eyes seem very soft. How do I make sure that the focus is on the eye and not some other part of the body. I am moving the square to the eye, but it is still not sharp.
Sorry for my basic explanation, but that my best way to describe it!
Thanks.

Thanks Tjompen1968, that has helped me. My live view now looks almost the same as the picture that Adam posted. But I don't have the icon that is shown in the bottom middle of screen. I can move the small square around to pick my focus point, but I don't seem to be able to enlarge the square.

Thanks for your reply Adam. That is what I am after, but I still can't get to the second image that you posted. If I press OK in live view, I just get the zoom in screen. I can move that around, but when I try to refocus, I goes back to the square in the middle.

I am quite new to photography and still very much learning my K3.
I use live view for night time landscape images, Sunsets, city views etc. I was wondering how to use select focus in live view. I would like to know how to move the focus point around the screen.

K-3 question. Can you zoom in to check the sharpness of your focus with live view?

Hi,
I am after a zoom lens and a Wide angle lens. As I am a complete beginner, I am only looking at entry level prices.
I think I have made up my mind for the Pentax SMC DA 55-300mm f4-5.8 ED over the Pentax SMC DA 50-200mm f4-5.6 ED. Is this a right choice?
I have no idea where to start with wide angle.
Any help would appreciated and I would prefer to get them in Australia.
Thanks :)
