Well, I have some bills to pay and I really hate ebay, so I've done some serious price drops. One last try...

So, I have some classic Pentax gear that needs a loving new home. You will find a full list below. This is wonderful gear, but it has been sitting in the closet too long now and needs to go somewhere it will be used! :)

I prefer to sell this all as a kit, but I will have individual prices marked as well. I'll probably give it a day or say and see if I can make someone a happy camper with the whole lot.

Pictures of all the equipment can be found on my blog at: Photography by Christopher Rebo
Sorry for the WB issues on some of the pics, I did what I could... And there is a bit of a green tinge to some of it, but everything really is black. :)

So here we go...

1. Pentax K2 DMD - Pentax's flagship model at the time, the is a beautiful piece of equipment. I am the second owner (my dad bought it new in 1979 or 1980), and it has been well taken care of. IT was service about 5 years ago for a stick film door release, and the mirror box foam was replaced then as well. Not a single issue since!

Shows a little wear and brassing, but not bad considering the age! Meter works and is quite accurate; good enough for slide film! Includes manual, leather strap and 2 pc. leather ever-ready style case. The bottom of the case is very nice and makes a great half case!

KEH has one in bargain condition for $245, but I think this one is just as nice, and has all the extras listed above, so I'm going to ask $275 for this. Now $225 shipped

NOTE: all lenses have clean and clear glass, and clean snappy aperture blades. Most have a bit of internal dust, but nothing that is out of the ordinary for lenses of this age. All lenses come with front and rear caps, some generic. :)

2. Pentax 50mm f/1.4 M - This little guy is good shape, and is very sharp! Little wear on the body, but pretty clean overall. NOTE: The aperture blades seem to rattle a bit when the lens isn't mounted, but when mounted on the body the noise is gone... Works perfectly. KEH wants $100 for bargain, and I think that is good place to stat for this one. $100 Now $65 shipped

3. Pentax 28mm f/2.8 M - Great little landscape lens, and very clean. What else is there to say? Used very little. KEH wants $115-120 for one in EX condition, how about $95 for this as it shows just a bit of wear. Now $60 shipped

4. Pentax Takumar (Bayonet) 135mm f/2.5 - Nice fast mid length tele lens. Shows some wear, but the glass is flawless! Nice sharp lens with wonderful bokeh. I think from KEH and Ebay $70 looks fair. SOLD

5. Vivitar 19mm f/3.8 P/KA - This one will work fully on digital too! Nice wide angle, this one looks almost new! This is really wide on film! KEH and Ebay say around $100 is fair... SOLD

6. Tokina 2x Auto Converter - This one is like new, rarely used... Comes with its own pouch to boot... Looks like $25 or so is the going rate.

7. Sunpak 411 flash - Great little flash that works great, does bounce and swivel to boot! $25

Ok, so there are all the particulars. Now, as I mentioned before, I'd prefer to sell this as kit, to make it easier and because its been together a long time. :) Everything listed above comes to $690. I'd sell the kit for $550, plus throw in about a dozen rolls of film, some UV and B&W filters, a nice rubber lens hood, and an aluminum style briefcase that has foam cut to fit the camera and all the lenses, plus the flash, and some room for film to boot! Now buy the camera and remaining lenses for $350 and get all the other goodies still!

Shipping is at the buyer's expense, whatever method you choose. Insurance is optional, but waive it at your own risk. Overseas is fine as well.

Payment can be made via Paypal, Google Checkout, or USPS money order.

Reasonable offers will be considered, and ridiculous ones will be politely ignored. :ugh: I try to price everything reasonably and fairly, but I am open to correction. :p

For those that want to know, I have great feedback on Ebay under squeaky_clean82, and great feedback on FredMiranda.com under squeaky_clean.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have!

EVERYTHING IS SOLD

So, my fling with Pentax is over. :( Have to sell this and move on. All of this equipment is less than 3 weeks old, and all in like new condition with boxes and warranty cards. (no box or card for the 18-55, I think)

1. K10D #1 - Approx. 200 shutter actuations (I'll get accurate counts for both when I get home) Like new condition, box, papers, everything from the box... $540 + shipping SOLD

2. K10D #2 - Approx. 300 shutter actuations, box, papers, everything from the box. No warranty Card - sent in w/ rebate Like new condition - $510 + shipping

3. 18-55mm kit lens - Like New. Mounted to camera one time. $50 + shipping SOLD

4. Grip for K10D - Like new condition, box, papers, etc. - $125 + shipping SOLD pending funds

5. 50-135mm DA* - In like new condition, wonderful lens! Super sharp! Has lens case, box, caps, hood, papers. $695 + shipping SOLD pending funds

6. 16-50mm DA* - Like new condition, seems to be a good sharp copy and the AF seems spot on. Comes with same as above. $650 + shipping SOLD pending funds

7. I have the following SD Cards as well:

3- SanDisk Extreme 3 - 4 gb
1- SanDisk Ultra 2 - 4 gb
1- Transcend 150x - 4 gb
2- Transcend 150x - 2 gb

I'd like to sell these as a lot. Maybe $175?

Here are the particulars:

Shipping is whatever method you choose(FedEx, UPS, USPS (My favorite)), at your cost. OVERSEAS IS OK. Insurance is up to you, but I won't be responsible in any way for uninsured packages. All will be professionally packed, costs about $3/package.

Google checkout is my preferred payment method. It takes any major credit or debit card. and doesn't charge extra for overseas like paypal does. Other methods may be available, you can PM me if we need to work something else out.

I have stellar feedback on FredMiranda.com under squeaky_clean and on ebay under squeaky_clean82. You can buy with confidence.

Remember, all items listed with paperwork include blank warranty cards so you can still register the equipment.

Please PM me if you are interested. Responses to this thread don't count, you have to send a PM. First PM that says I want it gets first shot. I try to be as fair as possible and go in order of the PM's received.

Don't hesitate to PM me questions if you have them. I am going to be away from the computer for about 4 hours, but I'll check in after lunch.

Thanks!

Chris

EVERYTHING IS SOLD, THANKS!

Hmm... I don't think I ever said that the 5D "wasn't enough camera" for me.

As I said in the original post, the lure of having IS on all my lenses and having my money go a little farther overall was what prompted me to try a change.

The 5D was an amazing camera, and I may still regret selling it. I just didn't feel that the IQ that it offered was so much above the K10D that it justified it's nearly 3x price. So I thought I'd try something new. Don't think it is going to work out.

I'm not a full time pro, so price/performance ratio is important. This time I don't feel that price advantage was enough to justify the performance loss in an area I deem important. Oh well. you win some and you lose some. After all, it is just a camera, right? Its all about what fits and works best for what you do.

Well, I think that it is safe to say that wedding photography had changed some. I can't say for sure, as I wasn't shooting weddings on the 80's or even the 90's. But if you look at the images being produced, there are differences.

There is a lot more PJ style shooting going on, and its what a lot of clients expect. I am not a full time pro, but I am part time and enough that I feel I need equipment that will do some of the more demanding things. While I do feel that Canon and Nikon are a little expensive, I think that there are some things they do better, as has become more obvious to me.

While I do feel that the image quality is a little better with Pentax, I don't think it is so significant that it far outweighs the competition. With post processing, I think most people would be hard put to tell the differences in lenses and sensors, given they are at least close in quality level.

And sometimes there is more to it than just the IQ. If I have split second chance to catch a moment, and the AF fails to lock, then it doesn't matter what the IQ is. An OOF shot is no good no matter what the IQ or color representation is.

Now, this isn't the same for everyone. For some people, using MF taking their time to do everything right to get that perfect image is just fine. for others, like sports shooters, I think that the highest priority is nailing the shot. While I am not saying that wedding photography is like sports, it is less static than it used to be, from my observations.

I would love to stay with Pentax. Its the brand I learned on, and I think some of their glass is wonderful. But I looking at it more from the perspective of a tool, and does it do what I think I need to do my job that way it needs to be done? The AF issue is a non-issue for a lot of the time. But there are enough situations where I think it could be harmful that I think that Pentax may not be the tool for me, regrettably. Time will tell...

So, I just jumped from Canon (5D and 20D) to Pentax. The lenses looked good, especially the SDM ones, and the temptation of in body SR was too much to pass up. And the IQ is great.

BUT....

There are a couple issues I don't know if I can live with. The main one is the AF. I probably should have done a little more research before I jumped, but I thought it would be decent, especially after I played w/ a K10D at a local store before I bought one. However, I find that in anything approaching lower light, its very hit and miss, or constantly trying to refocus. This is very disheartening.

My 5D wasn't exactly amazing in this area, but it felt more sure footed for sure. I really like the Pentax system, and I want to stay, but I don't know if I want to deal with it or not.

I shoot weddings, so there is a lot of low light/ambient light shooting to be done. MF is fine sometimes, but sometimes you just need the quickness of AF.

The other issues I have are much eaisier dealt with. The exposure is a little hit and miss, and the WB definitely is erratic. Neither of those are deal breakers as I shoot in Raw anyhow.

So, convince me from going back! I hate some of the stuff that Canikon does, especially in regards to IS/VR/SR, but on the other hand.... They work very well. Just so d@%^ expensive!

BTW- I have 2 K10D's, both with updated firmware, and the 16-50 and 50-135 lenses...

Wow, looks like I might be the winner... :)

24 gb total, all in 2 or 4gb cards, most Etreme III or Transcend 150x. But, I shoot weddings and have two cameras with me at all times (K10d's) so I guess that's why... You can never have too many.

I know this is a long shot, and it might be in the wrong forum, so mods please feel free to move it where it would go best....

I am trying to find the schematics/exploded view of the 77 lmtd along with the parts list so I can determine what part # I need to find out if I can get it. I am trying to get them from Pentax, but its a bit of a pain.

Thought I might get luck and someone here might have them for some strange reason.... Like I said, a long shot. Thanks in advance!
