Hi there,
I've been a long time lurker in the takumar lens thread. Not too sure how active I'll be here, since I'm not an active photographer.
The cameras I am using is a nice old Asahi Pentax Spotmatic SLR from my dad, grouped together with the then defacto lenskit: Tak 50mm/f1.4 (the nifty fifty of all nifty fifties ;)), model unknown to me as of yet. Can't remember the exact coating edition. Tak 135mm/f3.5 and to complete the range a 28mm/f2.8 Raynox lens.
After buying a DSLR (Canon EOS 450d) a colleague of mine pointed out that there were adapter rings for m42 lenses and I promptly bought one and ditched the kitlens for the Taks and the raynox. Haven't really looked back at the kitlens :)
I like the way the takumars render the images. On the SLR I had some doubts about the performance of the 28 and 135 lenses, but on my DSLR I managed to make them shine :D It is a bit easier to get lighting correct on DSLR :o
My main mode of operation is using the Av mode, sometimes switching to full manual. Struggling with back and front focus, manual focus without focus confirmation is a bit of a pain :D
Cheers,
Gerald
