I tried out a handkerchief on Tira this morning. I think she looks good in green!

But she prefers brown. :(

That's wild! You got me wondering, because I've seen Chrysler's own attempt at putting the massive Viper engine in a motorcycle, the Dodge Tomahawk, from 2003. It was a marketing stunt only, not street legal, and never really tested for performance. Looking it up now, Millyard was not involved with the Tomahawk, but he did see one at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and was so disappointed, he decided to make his own version.

That's a Tomahawk, where I saw it on display at Chrysler's booth at Barrett-Jackson in 2015. It used a type of hub-center steering which I don't think was power-assisted. Both the front and rear pairs of wheels could tilt independently to maintain contact with the ground while leaning through corners, but the handlebars were limited to only 18° of movement in either direction, limiting low-speed maneuverability. It also weighed about 1,500 pounds, with the massive Viper engine making up almost half of that.

We've had some spotty rain this weekend. Spotty enough this morning to have rain and sun at the same time, which is quite a treat for any photographer.

Tiramisu doesn't seem to have much of an opinion on rain. She's always happy to chase the ball, rain or dry.

Maverick likes to stay dry if he can help it. There's a sunshade over the picnic tables, which is enough to keep off light rain, too.

Thank you very much! The Cinelux projectors from the '80's and '90's are some of my favorite lenses for picture-taking, even though they were never designed for that purpose. They have a special look to them, sharp but still whimsical and colorful. I've spent a lot of time using shorter focal length versions on a full-frame Sony. Longer focal lengths have a large enough image circle to cover medium-format, but are usually priced far higher than I'd want to pay for something that still needs a lot of work before you can actually use it on a camera. I finally found one at a price I liked last year, and took it on vacation with me that summer with the adapter I designed and printed.

A couple more from that trip.

I take it to the dog park sometimes, too. On Sunday morning, we had light rain and sun at the same time. The lens really shines in magical light situations like that.

Thanks! Too bad about your local balloon festival. They really are fantastic for photography. There aren't many other big public events that just happen to take place during the best time of day for photography (IMO) - sunrise. I'm lucky that my parents live in a town with a big event each year at the end of August, and I can time my visits to overlap. I've attended for many years. It's not nearly as big as the one in Albuquerque, but I think there were around 50 balloons last year - more than enough to keep me busy once the burners start lighting up, running around to catch the best angles.

I've never been up in a balloon myself, but I did help out on the chase team for this crew, years ago. It's always good to see them coming back year after year.

Swing railroad bridge over the Willamette in Albany. It's still in heavy use more than a century after it was built, though I don't think it's done any swinging in decades. SMC Takumar 85mm f/1.8

This weekend, Tira got to run around with Duke, her cousin: a purebred Malinois. They have the same play style and get along pretty well. I've known Duke for years, but I never thought I'd ever have a Malinois (half, at least) myself.

We got a few licks of the storm that pounded the coast over the past week. It wasn't a whole lot this far inland, not enough to really flood the park, but the dogs made the most of what we got. Especially Zoe.

Another dumb Fuji shot, but with a Pentax FA 77/1.8 Limited up front. It works really well on the 50s II, my favorite lens to use with it so far.

While this is Pentax forums, I consider the name on the front of the camera the least important thing in the act of capturing an image.

Oh man, too funny!

His age bugs me. At 20 years old, he wasn't likely to be a student at that school.

...on second thought, judging by the intelligence he's demonstrating, maybe he is still in high school.

Not if he's convicted. In North Carolina and 31 other states, convicted felons are not eligible for jury duty.

Thank you for the kind words, Ted. Tira has done much better on the trip than I expected, including two days and a night my little car, sharing the backseat with Tasi. She hasn't chewed up anything at all in my parent's house, and she even got to visit Grandpa at the skilled nursing facility he's at now.

I got a dog DNA test kit for Tiramisu for Christmas, and the results just came back this week. I was completely sure she was at least half Belgian Malinois. That was always the breed that came up when people took a guess. The other half was less obvious. Something with a short coat and a big nose. Her ears are erect, but thin, and fold easily, so I figured her other half had floppy ears. My best guess was Doberman. I wasn't expecting such conclusive results from the test, but I turned out to be exactly right. She's only two breeds, maybe an "oops" dog from a breeder: half Belgian Malinois, half Doberman.

Mom got a test for her own dog, Grizzly, at the same time. We had guessed golden retriever and border collie. We weren't wrong; those breeds were in his results, and golden retriever was top match, at a whopping 13%. That was followed by a list of 21 other breeds, including everything from Australian cattle dog, to Dalmatian, to Norwegian elkhound.
