is that what that means?! i was thinkking it was the lens but i could swear i cleaned the lens off before i put it on the body. ill have to look up how to clean the sensor then. thanks for that. ya i noticed the halos too, they popped up when i added some contrast in photoscape. any advice on how to get rid of them? or it just a byproduct of adding contrast digitally? really wasnt feeling it in color, i seemed a bit dull, dark, under exposed maybe. just not what i wanted. im gonna go out and try the same shot again when its above 40 degrees and less cloudy. i am getting super hyped about shooting in good weather this summer. thanks for all the comments and any advice is appreciated.

Got off work super early and decided to go and try to get this shot of these hay bails that sit atop a grassy hill that i see every day and always thought would make a great photo. also had a few new lenses i wanted to try out (just some 20 dollar ebay lenses). while i didn't get the shot i was wanting (i'm pretty new at this), after some messing around with "PhotoScape" i came out with this. and i think i like it.

boo, deal was a bust. that 50mm/1.7 was full of corrosion and not salvageable. the 80-200 had a busted aperture adjuster, i took it all apart and could not fix it. the 50mm/1:2 had a jammed focus ring, but i took the whole thing apart and cleaned it and put in back together and its working great now. either way i cant give the guy a bad ebay score cause he admitted in the add that he new nothing about the the stuff and that any of it coulda been busted, but i dont know much about the stuff either and and i didn't expect the stuff to be so OBVIOUSLY broken you know? either way i can sell the k1000 bodies for 20 each, and i have some cool stuff to mess with for like 25 bucks. i like making one off/home-made kinda stuff so ill figure something out with the busted lenses. also the guy sent a pretty nice case logic camera bag with the stuff that i didnt know he was givin me, and i was in the market for one so that saved me some cheese too. and i made 1300 bucks on ebay last month! puerto rico here i come (in July)! gotta go read up on using manual lenses on my kx. peace.

1 PENTAX SMC PENTAX-F 1:1.7 50mm LENS

1 ZOOM+MACRO 80-200mm 1:4.5 055 NO. 83216183 52mm MC SOLINGER C/D LENS W/LEATHER BAG

1 GEMINI 1:3.5-4.5 35-200mm MACRO MC ZOOM 67 M840 212128 LENS

1 FIVE STAR SEMI FISH EYE 6790 LENS WITH LEATHER CASE

6 gemini filters

2 old pentax k1000's with leather cases

i should be able to sell anything i dont want and make a pretty good chunk of my money back. even if this this photography thing ends up to be a passing fas in my life, i should still make a couple hundred bucks selling the kit i am putting together. i can sell it to a local art major pretty easily. also picked up a vanguard alta+204AP for less than 50 bucks brand new from a local discount store. cant wait till summer, this weather SUUUUUUCKS.

thats just a couple i thought were decent. the whole place is just full of color in the fall, its pretty amazing.

the guy with the promaster doesnt know anything about it cause he is selling it for his sister, so i wont really know anything about the lens till i see it. but 20 bucks seems pretty good as long as nothing wrong with it either way.

i thought about it needing to be rotated a bit to make it look more level (is that right?), but the camera was perfectly leveled according to my tripod bubble level. so any of the crooked-lookingness is just a characteristic of the graveyard, which i rather like. i plan on downloading one of the recomended freeware PP programs tonight and maybe playing around, ill try a bit of rotation and see what happens.

the graveyards around here are fantastic. i live in clarksville tn, about 40 minutes from downtown nashville. IMO the clarksville graveyard, despite being in the middle of the clarksville ghetto, is more scenic than the Savannah GA graveyard. ill pull some pics from the fall off of my fujifilm cam and post em tonight. the clarksville graveyard has a pretty large section of civil war graves. and i monument to confederate soldiers. after saying this i would like to point out that i am not a souther boy. i am an army brat, this just happen to be where i ended up. haha. thanks everyone for all the advice, if all goes well i wont have to pay money for a college course, yall can be my teachers.

i have been scoping out ebay listings for the past week looking for a 1.7 50mm prime, and i am meeting a guy to pick up a 20 dollar promaster 100-300 tomorrow (if he doesnt bail, it is craigslist so he probably wont show up). i want the zoom cause my uncle in law has some hunting blinds that are like a 10 minute walk from my house. im gonna walk up there some morning and see if i can get any shots of deer or coyotes.

i wasnt going for anything here really. just playing with the manual mode. when i looked at the photo i liked it, and then i looked at the settings and realized that they all looked a bit high. i am gonna go back to the cemetery and take the same photo with more typical settings. and try and get a sense for the differences. guess what i am trying to say is the the high iso wasn't so much a "choice" i made. thanks for the input! hopefully i get to go out and pay again today, first decent weather day in for ever.

well, thats pretty much how i sold her on it. i supplement may a third of my income on ebay, and would easily make money if i turned around and sold the kx right now. so if something happens and we go broke tomorrow, getting my money back shouldnt be a problem.

i plan on doing all of that! mostly the only thing holding me back is time. happened to get off early today and this cemetery is a short walk from my house so i went out to play. but i am usually at work till dark. and the days i'm off the weather sucks. just waiting for that perfect weather day to myself to go out and learn. for now i am just reading up. thanks so much for the input. guess i should have put this in the critique section.....

very cool. it seems pretty cool that you can get some one of a kind type images, since your the only one with the lens.

this was the first time using manual mode on my kx, i only went out for a trial and error type thing, wanted to see what the different setting did. i know the definitions for iso, aperture, and shutter speed, but i am still trying to get a feel for how they relate to one another. so basically i was just taking the same picture on different setting. this is the one i liked the best. and i definitely found it more appealing in B&W. input welcome. i am a complete novice.

Hey guys, just introducing myself (because the forum prompted me to). recently got interested in photography (through instagram, though i am sure that i just lost some respect from admitting that). so i started a few month ago with a crappy fujifilm crossover, decided i wanted more and i found was seems like a great deal on a K-x off craigslist. got the body, a DAL 18-55, and 50-200 zoom, with original paperwork, bunch of sd cars, and brand new energizer rechargables for 250 bucks. so i convinced my wife and now i have it. i have been reading up and trying to teach myself but i am thinking about taking a college course sometime. either way just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. might be sharing some stuff tonight. also, i have no PP software other than the digital filters and whatnot available on the camera itself, which i am still learning about.

today was my fist day using the manual function on the camera. i have a thing for grave yards, old one. i live in Tennessee, so there are a ton of them. my and my wife actually go out on every other saturday and hunt for them, though she has no patience for waiting around while i take a thousand pictures, so i dont get many. i am particularly intrigued with the colors of the moss that grows on the older stones, and the textures and porosity of the old stones.

apart from graveyards, the sky. i think the sky is the most beautiful part of my life, apart from my wife. i have yet to take any good photos of it though. i just find it very hard to take a photo of the sky that does it any justice. someday i hope to figure it out. ill be sharing some photos in the forums soon. maybe one i took today. they are not professionally good, but not horribly bad either i dont think. guesss ill find out.
