Just checked my K3 with 18-135 attached and switching from AF to MF changes the display accordingly.
If set to AF.A and move the switch to MF, it shows MF.

Just got this last week and so far very impressed with the quality and versatility. I like it will show yellow as a wear indicator.

you can never have too many :). As long as you enjoy using them and the nuances that each provides. That said I have too many :(

have a look at the Sigma 170-500. it looks like the screws line up the same as yours. Still not cheap though to get a lens for the mount unless you can find one for parts.

I have the same dilemma. Just don't want to lay out for the new 21. So currently have a Rokinon 15mm, FAJ 18-35 and Sigma 24mm. Also the 24-70. Naturally still have the DA 15 for aps-c

Had the K20d, then K5, then K3, now K3mkIII, can honestly say that each step was a vast improvement even though I said I would not buy the MK3 I did :(. With the Mk3 autofocus is the main gain, Image quality a bit but not the deciding factor. I think you should be able to get a used K3 at a decent price point. Also in Canada and the market here is not great for used Pentax gear but one does show up from time to time.

If the SDM is grinding maybe worth trying to convert it to screwdrive and see if that helps with the grinding. You also might consider the 55-300 PLM. I have both and the DA 300 way sharper than the PLM at 300 but the PLM is still very good.

I always get the glass type for my phones tablets and cameras. Very easy to remove. If difficult just warm it a bit with a hair dryer

I second that, have bought a few items from them and experience was great each time. Delivery was on time, payment was easy.
Definitely my go to for new Pentax Gear in Canada. Occasionally they have refurbished on their site as well at good discounts.

Full frame kit is to heavy for travel so it stays home, K3, DA15, DA20-40, and DA 55-300 PLM, no flash using built in if required for snapshots.

Might be an issue with your card reader if they are formatting ok on your camera. Try format the SD card in your laptop as a test. Use FAT32 as the filesystem.
