Personally, I would go with a K3, even as a beginner user it is easy to use but has all of the functions that many advanced users love. I have been shooting on a K5 since it came out (workhorse of a camera, still regularly use it) but just picked up a second hand K3 from KEH for under $500 USD with only 2300 clicks on the shutter. Despite being "older" the K3 and the K5 are beasts in their own way. K3's are rated to 200k acuations on the shutter. Some other awesome features the K3 offers (and frankly I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better Pentax DSLR in terms of features until you get to the K1 or 645) is the dual SD card slots, 8.3 FPS, the 86k Pixel meter seems worlds better than the 77-Segment meter on my K5, you also get 27 AF points, better AF system than the K5 or K70, though a downside is the slightly lower dynamic range on the K3 additionally the K3 has a sizable buffer as well. The rear LCD is also much better on the K3 than the K5 or K70, 1.037m dots, and a 3:2 aspect ratio, the K70 does have a flip screen which would be nice to have but for me personally was not a deal breaker. The resolution on the K3 is just a bit higher on paper (though in actual use this is not likely to make any kind of noticeable difference.)
TL;DR my personal recommendation would be the K3 due to its ruggedness, low cost of ownership, and the ability to use it as an entry level camera with relative ease and continue using it well into being an advanced user.

So, I'm in the market for another lens! My primary is a 50mm Sigma DG HSM (approx 75mm on my k5).
I prefer primes but also do a lot of street photography so I'm not looking to have a ton of stuff yo carry around.
I am mostly between the Pentax HD da limited 20-40 f2.8-4 and the Pentax HD DA 35mm f2.8 limited.
I can get each of these lenses within $10.00 price difference of each other.
What you you suggest and why?
I do a lot of landscape/nature, street, and some portrait photography.

I had no idea about that with the APS-H chips, I just knew it was basically the size between a medium and a large, haha. But one thing that baffles me, is how are they not "taken seriously"? I mean, yeah, they do hold a much smaller market share than Canon and Nikon, but a few big differences are with Pentax you really get a truly outstanding piece of equipment for the price you pay (which is much lower than the others), so whilst not the "go to brand for all professionals" even if they did introduce a FF camera, they still wouldn't be. Why? Well, because they do not market their product, at least not like Canon and Nikon do (we have all seen the countless adverts for the Nikon D--- and the Canon Rebel XXX) moreover why do they need to be "taken seriously" I mean, with Canon and Nikon dSLRs you get a choice of what... Black? (You can have a Ford model 'T' in any colour as long as it is black) whereas Pentax at least has some fun with their bodies. I guess I just really understand what you mean by "taken seriously".
If I really felt like searching for what other people wanted to know, then I would not have asked the questions that I did... :rollseyes:
I understand why it is justified, but I mean, if (for the most part) people are able to o what they need to do, and have not just good, but great results with the current existing hardware, is there a great demand to go above and beyond? I guess I have never really worked with FF before (other than with film) so I can't really judge the difference to say I have a preference, however, my fear is if Pentax did begin to make FF cameras what would happen to their APC-C bodied cameras? Would it become like Canon and Nikon and the APS-C sensor cameras would become second tier, sub-par cameras like we see with Canon & Nikon? Another big concern is if that were the case, would their (presumably sub-par (by that I mean obviously not as good as they are doing now)) cameras remain the same price, or would they drop the price to make their FF cameras at least come some-what close to meeting current market price of their current cameras? I mean, isn't one of the things with Pentax the fact that their "top of the line" dSLR isn't $7,000?

I am not viewing the images on my good monitor (IPS display) but from what I can see, in the photo from K-50 the reds are way too vibrant, and the skin is washed out, what mode are you shooting, RAW or JPEG? Personally I only ever shoot RAW, and that might be the way for you to go if you aren't already. Right now, I agree with SteveB, start there and report back.

I am thinking about doing a shoot inside of an old hotel in my town where many notable figures stayed, including but not limited to president Kennedy and the first lady. I may have to go in there at different times of the day to see what the lighting is like.
I think I am likely going to do mostly B&W using my Ricoh Rikenon P 50mm f/2

Here is what I (personally) would do;
Go with the K-5 from Amazon, $630 new, or $450 used (the K-5II runs at $695 new from Amazon) the K-5II/s runs almost $800 from B&H.
I'd get the K-5 for $630, Pentax Normal smc P-D FA 50mm f/2.8 Macro (2.8 is probably too slow for macro) for $521.95 OR you could get the Pentax smc DA 50mm f/1.8 ($181.95) or the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG for $399
A kit should consist of the following lenses:
wide angle (less than 35mm)
Normal; 43, 50, 55, 80, 85 (one or more of these is great)
Zoom: 100,200,300 (again one or any of these is good)
Flash unit
SD cards
Battery grip (optional)
Extra batteries (optional)
Are you in need of top end glass, or just looking for something with decent quality?
Also, I need to ask, do you mind if some lenses are new or used, and also do you mind if they are manual focus? That there will save money too, and you can generally get better glass for cheaper.

The Pentax AF280T has a flexible bounce head, which is a really nice feature, TTL auto, auto (green box and red box, I have no idea what that even means) MS (H & L) and Manual. It is fairly simple to use.

Well, I mean... Don't take this the wrong way, but sometimes in a camera that has a higher resolution, you'll see a difference in IQ. That happened when I upgraded from the K10D to the K-5. Granted the K10D is a 10mp CCD sensor and the K-5 is a 16mp cMOS sensor.
When I was buying a replacement to the K10D (I had my eye set on the K-5 since the day it was released but looked into other options at the time of purchase) Nikon and Canon both have cameras in a similar price range with 18 and 24 mega pixel cMOS sensors, but then I thought about it, and it is in my own honest opinion that anything beyond 16mp the difference in IQ at the point really becomes marginal. Unless of course you're blowing it up to some obnoxious size (I think 16mp is something like 4928x3264 pixels which is something like 20.5x13.5 inches) and you can easily get ultra high quality prints up to 20x24 (if not even bigger) and typically they're not going to be enlarged that much.. So, really 16mp is fine. Now, I did look at higher resolution cameras in the same price range, but looking at them, you may be getting a 'better' sensor, but not a better camera. In all honesty I'd much rather be the guy who goes around with the $1,200 camera and the really good glass rather than the guy with the Canon 1DX (and its fancy 10 frames per second) and really cheap budget glass. You're more likely to get better image quality out of a cheaper camera body and good glass rather than an expensive camera body and cheaper glass (glass lasts much longer than a camera body).
I guess moral of the story, look at other aspects rather than just the resolution of the sensor, body material and features are very important also. Also, unless you've got serious cash to drop an a good Nikon or Canon setup, buy a cheaper body and good glass. It'll serve you better rather than the other way around. :)

Sorry for the double post.
I found this 
Basically, a smaller sensor means that a lens that isn't designed for the smaller sensor not be as wide. A lens not designed for this will also be longer longer on the APS-C format, as that same lens would be wider on FF. So say for example you have a 300mm lens meant to be used on a 35mm film camera body (which is FF) and you put it on a Pentax DSLR body (which has a crop factor of 1.5x) that 300mm lens would have the same reach on an APS-C camera as a 450mm lens on FF would have. (I could be wrong, but this is just how I've learned it. I'm not an expert :P )
