Don't remember the shutter speed (probably long enough) or the aperture (likely F8 or so) as it was shot on a slide, Kodak Elitechrome IIRC, but man, I do remember the eeriness of it!

I would argue that (more or less) all it showed was more contrast (yes, more contrasty picture appears to be "sharper") and more moiré in the first picture which is quite counterintuitive since smaller pixels should be more moiré resistant by the very nature of the phenomenon. Just hope the moiré tamer works as advertised (on real world pictures, that is).

this! Please Pentax/Ricoh bring it back for all affected bodies and forever. This must have been the most stupid (I mean not very user friendly, you know) change ever.

personally I think there's no need for a camera of the K-3 (or even K-5) class for shooting JPEGs IQ wise, but that's just me, of course. Now that the cat is out of the bag I am even more interested to see how well K-3 moiré tamer works.
agreed, a picture is more than a sum of its (however well) measured parameters

yes, even 4.2 does - well that was supposed to be one of the key advantages of using DNG instead of some proprietary format...

I think you're onto something here - just imagine "new Pentax K-1P with a selectable psychedelic filter feature" - should be a no brainer for all hippie K1000 owners

yeah, that's pretty good idea if you don't mind one additional step in your workflow

They all share the same system libraries, so you'll need to wait for Apple to release a RAW camera update with K-3 support. Shouldn't take too long now that the camera is out. Or you may use Lightroom, even version 4 works with DNG files already.

I hear you, bossa, and sure, your arguments are valid. It's just personally I have no need for more than, say, 12 quality megapixels or so, even 16MP is an overkill for my purposes. Please take my replies with a grain of salt or two. :)

on a more positive note:
1. K-3 does have a "moiré tamer"
2. DA35Ltd is a great performer as it outresolved 24MP sensor just fine (happy to own one :))

well now there seems to be teeny weeny more detail in Nikon picture. But that's only fair to those lugging bigger cameras around. As they say "no pain, no gain!"

cause all that apparent detail is fake and it would be fairly trivial to make image 2 looking as image 1 (I mean better) but not vice-versa, I'm afraid

I'll be probably stating the obvious, but the picture from Nikon seems to be bigger. :o
Well, bigger body equals bigger pictures I guess... :)

second that - very good scene for moiré/aliasing/fake detail testing, not necessarily for testing different cameras, though ;)

I've got a yellow one - just couldn't resist and since I wanted a nice body for my manual Pentax glass collection anyway, it wasn't so hard. :)
