Here are a few from me. It's a long weekend here (as I suppose it is in most places) and the weather has been surprisingly cooperative. The first photo was taken with my D FA 21mm F2.4 Ltd., the rest with my D FA 100mm macro.

Welcome to the 648th edition of Pictures of the Week (POTW), covering the entire month of October 2021. Thanks for starting the thread Adrian. Sorry I've been absent...

I finally got out of town last weekend and visited Northern Ireland. The weather was wonderful and the scenery and hiking spectacular.

This is the remains of Dunseverick Castle. I don't know what it looked like in its day but what a location!

I visited the SoCal CAF museum when it reopened in July. This is an Antonov AN-2, touted as the world's largest single-engine biplane. A STOL-type aircraft, it's big, loud and slow. (how the docent describes it.) :) Lumix LX3:

Here's one of the biggest weather vanes in the world, supposedly. It's sitting out front of the Yukon transportation museum in Whitehorse. I was hoping to get a shot of the northern lights in the background, but no such luck. It still looked pretty neat lit up at night though. They've got pretty good bearings in the stand, it doesn't take much wind to make it move, and it's absolutely silent. It was a bit unnerving standing directly under it and realizing it was moving above us.

The orphanage where I (also) work, had a water problem, resulting in having to get it from elsewher. We used the centres van, bringing it in large drums. Decanting it proved to be a messy affair, and puddles formed in the basement where it all happened, and that created some nice reflections.

The contest will run from now through September 1. Votes will be counted thereafter.

Submissions can be in any written form (no video or audio files) — caption, limerick, motivational, poem or prose — whatever inspires you to describe the photo or catch attention. Submit by replying to the thread. Contestants may submit more than one entry but it must be in a separate post.

Important: Even if you do not submit an entry, please “like” any posts you feel deserve it as this is how the winner is chosen. And if you DO submit an entry, please also find an entry that you like from among your competitors' efforts and "like" that one as well.

In case of a tie, the moderator will choose one to break the tie. After determination of the contest's winner, that winner will be notified ASAP after by the current Thread Starter/Contest Host and will become responsible for posting the next original work to be captioned. Enter often, vote more often. and most important: Have fun !

(If this image is too big for your screen, go into your account settings and change the display size).
