What would be an inexpensive upgrade from a K10D. I want video capability

I bought a used K10D off of eBay a couple of years ago and it has been a wonderful camera, but I'd like to sell it in favor of a model with video capabilities. Can any knowledgeable person(s) give me suggestions? I am on a budget and would be looking for something used on eBay again. What would be my cheapest option to get comparable features to the K10D plus video? Thank you.

Vivitar 35mm 2.8 identification and opinion

Perhaps it was the 22 and 28 that looked the same, but I really think it was 22s and 37s also. If you are interested search for 135mm 2.8s. I am pretty sure I have owned identical lenses that were either 22 and 37 or 28 and 37.

Thanks for the input. I did find an identical 22* serial number (Kiron) lens at mflenses (not sure if there is a policy about posting links, so I didn't), but I have other Vivitars that look identical to each other beginning with 22 and 37, so I have seen where identical vivitar lenses can be made by different companies. I too thought it looked like a bright band, but an internet search brought up no references to a 35mm bright band that I could find.

Obviously this lens predates the well-known number system. Does anyone know its maker or have an opinion about it performance? Thanks.

ES II requires holding of button for long exposures

In regards to the ES II requiring the holding down of the shutter button to get correct (especially long) exposures, "5tax" stated in another post in 2013, "You can either take it to be repaired, or you can remove the base plate and check the shutter release shaft and associated switch parts to see what is wrong."

Can "5tax" or anyone else elaborate on this, specifically, does resolving this problem require a mechanical adjustment or replacement/adjustment of an electrical part. Thanks in advance.

My question was more about it being BLACK IIa. I do know there are usually a premium for the black Spots. I cannot find any black ones in the eBay "completed" listings.

What is a Pentax K with 1.8 Zebra worth?

I was thinking the same thing about the dents. I restore old cars and it would be like restoring a classic car with a bent frame.

I am considering keeping the camera and selling just the lens. What do you think?

If I am going to get $30 bucks for the camera, I rather put it in the closet and try to score another parts body with a good top cover.

Thanks for answering, but I know that is not right. Both the K and the 1.8 are collect's items. One just like mine, but with a CLA and minus the dents went for $450 on ebay.

Asahi Pentax K Con Auto Takumar 55mm F1 8 La Prima Asahi Pentax 1958 M42 Mount | eBay

Another with the non-stock lens went for $299

Pentax K 35mm SLR Camera w Pentax 58mm F 2 Lens RARE | eBay

I know what it is worth clean and working, I am just trying to figure out how much the dents affect the price.

Anybody have a guess what my K is worth? By sound, the shutter seems close to accurate in that exposure times get longer as I switch up the scale, but even if they are it still needs a CLA because the curtain has a pretty good sized wrinkle when the camera is cocked.

Prism housing has a dent as does the base, other than that it is fairly clean. It includes the original Zebra 1.8 in good condition, an original manual (fair) and case which is original but pretty useless because the leather has broke apart at most bend points.

I contacted Eric about doing the CLA, but as I don't intend on keeping it I don't know if I'd lose or gain money by having the CLA before selling it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sigma 24mm 2.8 rear disassembly

I have a Sigma Super-Wide II like the legacy one reviewed here. It is auto aperture. The aperture arm sticks. I was going to operate from the front, but the name ring is not budging (I have gotten many tight rings off before), so I was going to try to fix the binding from the rear. I have never taken an auto aperture lens apart before. Does anyone know if the contact balls will stay in place or will they fall/fly out. Thanks.

K200D: What is missing from the shutter box?

Thanks. I will end up losing $12 after commissions, but that is acceptable considering that the repair costs would exceed the camera value. I still want to get a DSLR that will accept the numerous screw lenses I have and would like to get in for around $200 used. Top of the line would be great, but even if I had the money I'd be so worried about dropping it, etcetera, I'd be afraid to use it.

Bought it for $60, sold it for $55. This time it was accurately described. The camera was clean and the LCD screen was scratch free. The buyer will probably be very happy if he/she bought it for the LCD or any other of the non-damaged components.

K200D: What is missing from the shutter box?

Thank you and everyone before you that answered. With the help of the slow motion video link I posted in message #6 and firing the camera at a 10 second exposure time while looking inside, I was able to determine that the "film" that was removed that the previous owner spoke of was the bottom half of the shutter. The top shutter stuck half the time and when it did it looked in good condition, but then I noticed the bottom shutter was gone. The photo I posted shows the remnant of the shutter piece in the bottom left corner. Too bad: The camera has less than 3000 exposures. Hopefully I can sell it for parts.

Eulogy seems to think it could have been a film covering the sensor and by the previous owners description, I tend to agree. I wonder if it is worth replacing the sensor?

The only picture I have found of the sensor is a video here:
K200D shutter video | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
It shows it as a more uniform color, not the blotchy appearance seen on my camera sensor. Kind of a neat slow motion video.

I got this camera real cheap. It overexposes but I can use it in manual and shorten the exposure time to compensate. The original owner said a "film" at the back of the shutter box was damaged and removed. This is the first DSLR I've had my hands on so have nothing to compare it to. Anyone know what is missing and if it is cost effective to repair? Thanks.

Tak 50 1.4 8 element - blades lag

Hi all. I am looking for some help.
I start with the lens at f16. I open two clicks then close one. And repeat this pattern all the way through the scale. Following this pattern, f11 for example, is one size when your opening to it, but bigger when you are closing down to it from one click larger. Closing from two clicks larger will return it to the right size. When you move all the way up or down the aperture scale everything moves as expected. There is no oil on the blades.

I have the elements removed and have access to the top and bottom of the aperture blades, but would rather not go into this aperture mechanism any deeper. When pushing the aperture rod the is some intermittent resistance, but if it is because of dirt, it is hidden. Any ideas how to free/clean this up intact? I might be willing to break the aperture blade mechanism down if I could see how it is done. Thanks.

I know this is a good model, but these classics are a dime a dozen on ebay so they can't be a great model (I paid $20): If it was an LX (selling broken for $150+), I wouldn't mess with it. My objective is to learn how to work on them, more than taking pictures with it although I would do that too. I just got a beautiful ES II with and fixed the lihjt meter because it's former owner was convinced he couldn't do it. I just don't see the point in paying $80 to fix a $50 camera. The other point is Eric did work on his first, second and third camera once. If the people around him assumed he'd fail, he wouldn't be fixing your cameras today.
